DisneyQuest downgrades

I just returned from a day at DisneyQuest and noticed many many things have changed since a year or two ago. For one thing, CyberSpace Mountain is no longer offering DVDs of your ride. Instead, they tell you to have a family member record your ride cam with their smart device. Similarly, in the Living Easels you have to take a picture if you want to keep your art. And you can't buy your toy at the Create-a-Toy anymore. So now, the gift shop has been removed and is just a sitting area. At FoodQuest, the menu has gotten a downgrade as well. Sandwiches and chicken are gone. Now it's just a few hot dogs and a kid's cheese pizza. Why? DisneyQuest has seriously gone downhill and it doesn't seem like they care about it. They could have tried to fix the buggy DVDs, but instead they just got rid of it all. How long is it before this place closes?

DisneyQuest has been dying for years now. It's sad, really, because I used to enjoy going there every time we would go to Disney. I remember lines on both levels of the Ride the Comix VR thing, lots of people, and it was just a fun and immersive experience. Now, it's a ghost town. It even had some great classic arcade games, and you could play them as long as you wanted. It's not long for this world, unfortunately. I don't know when the exact closing date is, but from what I've heard of here, I think it's supposed to be this year.

I believe I read someplace that it would be in early 2017. Not absolutely sure, but, I have never been to it, and had no plans to do so anyway. I wonder if they are going to replace it with anything else.

You missed nothing. The place has received almost no updates since it opened in 98. Your average Dave and Busters puts it to shame in pretty much every way. Hell, an evening at home with a Wii U and UberEATS would be a vast improvement.

I'm sorry, when I said this year, I seriously felt like it was already 2017. Silly me.

I'm surprised they never just re-imagined it as a ESPN Zone....Since DTD Anaheim has one....But, then since they have a Mini version on DIsney's Boardwalk it would just be pointless I suppose.....

DQ still has some attractions (aging, but still tons of fun) that you can't get at home. Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, AstroBlaster, and even CyberSpace Mountain are worthwhile. Especially as there's not much wait these days.
Yeah...not really. The resolution is so poor on those that it just makes me stabby especially knowing what they could be had they updated them say once or twice in the last 16 years.

Now AstroBlaster is an absolute blast (pun intended) it is just a shame that is the only really good thing about the entire place.

They did upgrade the projector for Pinball Slam a year ago as it does look brighter..But, that's the only update I saw....

Okay. Then I'll say they were tons of fun for me, my friends, and the kids I was with. Their graphics might not be as good as, say, a PS4, but I can't stand on a boat and fire hand-cannons with a 3D Tortuga all around me in my living room. Might not be your thing, but it's mine.

The announced closure was also part of the deal with the NBA that briefly roared back to life this year before dying.

ESPN Zone was part of the same [failed] regional entertainment concept as DisneyQuest. While the ESPN Zones opened across the country, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts began shuttering them in 2009. The Downtown Disney location is the last ESPN Zone remaining.

The last upgrade that I remember was back in 2012 when they added the Fix-it Felix games right after Wreck-It Ralph came out.

They were trying to incorporate Wreck-It-Ralph as the unofficial Mascot for Disneyquest when they had released the film in theaters and had a meet up at Disneyquest..

IMO Without Genie Being in the Cyberlator it was the first Nail in the Coffin for Disneyquest..

What about the one at the Boardwalk as I mentioned before?
