I have heard from some other sites and news sources that say DisneyQuest will close in no more than one year. Has anyone heard about this?? Rumor has it that plans are to bring the attractions within the indoor theme park into The Magic Kingdom and Epcot. With the popular Buzz Lightyear Cannon Blaster making it's way to Tomorrowland =) The attractions moving into the parks could help both parks in my opinion by offering more interactive experiences. What real harm can be done by moving the attractions into parks with dead space?? If DisneyQuest is really closing the theme parks could really benefit.

I've never heard this...but I would like to see these attractions in the parks. I've only been there once. And it was confusing! We kept getting lost  But the attractions are great! So, I feel they would be better in the parks. Or at least in a better building that isn't so confusing.

I've never hear this rumor before. I go to DisneyQuest often, and many of times it has been packed. I've waited 20 minutes for Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam. I hope they dont close. If they do, I see a lot of the attractions probably going to Innoventions at Epcot and/or even Innoventions at Disneyland. I can't see Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters being put into Tomorrowland, seeing there's already a Buzz Lightyear ride. Maybe it will be moved to Disneyland since there is no Buzz ride.

A rumor that was going around last year was that Timekeeper was being trashed so they could make a giant Astroblaster in the TK building. DisneyQuest wont shut down. They might bring elements of it into the parks yes, but its one the great get aways from the parks, plus it never has a good or bad day with the rides they have.

Not to mention back when Pirates opened up, people who saw the movie at the theater there literally ran over to DQ to check out the pirate attraction over there (Which is the only reason why I picked up an annual pass for the place).

You should try to put some money aside for your next trip. It really is a neat place! The Pirate attraction is really neat!

Hi there,
I worked at Quest last year, here is what I can tell you.

Buzz would not "move" anywhere. It is no more than a bumpercar ride that has way too many miles on it already.

Quest was initialy designed to have its attractions change out every 2-3 years. Then budget and popularity realities set in and you have a basicaly static attraction.

Quest has very high labor costs, dozens of CMs are required for operation, the only thing that has kept it going is the private buy outs that are very profitable for them.

One I worked was a group of fund raisers from the Lutheren Church. They bought the place out for 2 nights and paid about 80k-100k total for the experience.

This included open bar and all the food from the counter service restaraunts. Still, not bad for a 7pm to midnight gig.

If quest dies it will probably take most of the "Attractions" with it. There are a lot of video games there that would be scattered to other arcades on property. Things like Mighty Ducks, Invation, and the VR Comics and Aladin rides are old, tired, and expensive to run.

Gotta say that IMHO Quest is a waste of time for a Disney Vacation. It is a gorified arcade (a nice one, but not that cool.)

If you go to Disney for your vacation, you should be outside in the parks or taking advantage of the recreation, not hold up in a dark building playing Pod Racers all day.

there have been rumors for some time about quest closing, and possibly becoming a multi level espn club, and it could happen, but i haven't heard from any reliable sources that it will happen. as far as moving the attractions to the parks, i really like some of the quest attractions, but i don't see any of them fitting in the parks well. also, none of them could support the crouds int he parks. they could always put them in the parks, and make more of them, to handle the guest load, but that would require way too many cms. these are great attractions in the kind of atmosphere they are currently in, but i don't see them working in the 4 parks.

Was quest any more profitable when you had to pay to play?

I still have my original Disney Quest card, and I think I had put $20 or so on it. At the time it was a good distraction on a long trip to Disney. But as a stand-alone thing to do.. it is SORT of boring.

Also, the one price admission getting you most everything is very intimidating since it feels steep. I went a few weeks ago, and didn't see much in the way of changes since I had gone oh so long ago. About the only thing that might make it worth it is the unlimited play on the classic arcade machines :)

The rumor I heard involved the old Chicago Quest attractions going into the Innoventions at DL. It seems most the innovention sponsors are jumping ship, and the need to fill it up. FAST.

This would happen for the 50th anniversary. A "one man's dream" type exhibit would be placed on the ground floor of the rotating building, and Quest games placed on the second floor with the last remaining sponsor.

Pray for something, Tommowland at DL is so depressing.

DQ is a good "also" for a trip, but I haven't been there in years. All that's new since my last time there is PotC. Do they still have a flat rate for all the games?

you play a flat rate for your admission tickey, which covers evrything except:
a few games on one floor (these games dispense tickets which can be echanged for prizes)
any food you buy
souvineers you take home fromt eh create floor.

They have Elevator Action. That should be enough to keep the place running.

Seriously, though, we had a Gameworks down here and it closed because it got old really fast and nobody wanted to shell out around 2 bucks a game. Now DisneyQuest, you pay the admission and you play whatever you want as much as you want it! I love the place, and it's a definite must-see every time I go.

Okay, Okay. This post is in my opion...

Disney Quest will probably close. I think once you go is enough, and it doesnt bring back too many repeat customers.

Its only a matter of time before people stop paying $20.00 bucks to wait in lines for arcade games, which they have already been on.

However, I dont like the ESPN club thing. I think Downtown Disney needs something like DQ, but maybe redone? Or differnt types of attractions, or something different. Not just a restaurant or club. Something cool.

I ve been to Quest 2 times. And the second time I went because it was late (i think after 10pm, and it was 1/2 price)

And both times I waited A LONG TIME!

I dont think if Quest Closes,, these games will be seen in the park. i dont see people waiting 2 hours to ride the magic carpets?!?

Well thats just what I think!

I love the ESPN Zone idea! The ones in Washington, D.C., and New York City are so cool. I like them better than the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk. The games are really good, and so is the food. But even though it'd be nice having one it shouldn't replace DisneyQuest and should be placed somewhere else on the West Side.

How about Dave & Busters? Best place ever!
