Any advice dealing with a wheelchair? To me its going to be like a giant stroller again. I think I need to make the wheelchair unique so I can find it again since it is rented. Any ideas?

My son and I hit up Disneyland yesterday. He is in a wheel chair after some surgery he had a couple of weeks ago. He is able to walk but couldn't take an entire day walking at Disney so we brought his wheel chair with us. After parking over at Chip and Dale we took the Mickey van to the park. The van holds about ten people with seat belts and about three wheelchairs. He sat with me in the back so others can use the wheelchair locks.

We went to DCA and got fast passes for Soaring. Since everything at DCA is ADA compliant you have to take the wheelchair through the queues. Once on the ride the CMs take are of the the wheelchair and bring it back to you at the end. It's like taking a big stroller through all the lines.

Over at Disneyland its a different story. The newer attractions are ADA compliant. You do the same as over at DCA. Star Tours had us enter via a door near the entrance of the ride. It took us down a long hallway pass break rooms and offices. You end up at stairs and an elevator. The elevator takes you between pod 1 and pod 2. The cast member helps you transfer on and off the ride.

For older rides like the fantasyland dark rides you enter via the exit. They have you wait until the next vehicle or when someone with a wheelchair gets off. It's faster than the regular lines.

Over at the mansion they have you ride all the way around and you take the stretching room back up. It's a trip seeing how fast the room shrinks and is totally silent.

Not a lot of people know it but the Finding Nemo Submarines have an alternative ride experience that anyone can do. There is a room to the right of the loading area called the Nautical Exploration Marine Observation room. Here you get the watch the entire ride on a large TV screen. What is cool about this is you can see the entire animation sequences and you can see Dory in the whale part at the end. It is really well themed and pretty fun. Just as the cast member at the exit.

All in all it is great day at the parks. The cast members handle every situation perfectly. The older ones really enjoy talking to Randall and about his cast and seem to go out of their way to make it special.

Oh, so we could tell the difference in wheel chairs, I tied an old Tigger tie to the wheelchair. One cast member wanted to know if the Tigger tie was on purpose because his leg cast is orange and black like Tigger.
