The Haunted Mansion
and what would that be unless you count the hitchhiking ghost scene that is used in MK.
This is designed for Adventureland so bare with me.
Designer's Note: This version of The Haunted Mansion will be the scariest version of the seven versions in the Gemini Series. The ride will be themed to an abandoned adventurers' clubhouse with ghosts from such nations as America, Mexico, France, and Japan.
(We enter the foyer, one each for the stand-by and FASTPASS lines. Here, instead of the traditional paintings, there will be paintings of the Adventurers' Club members who have died including Harrison Hightower III, Henry Mystic, Cecil B. Otto Von Waterfox, Kissin' Kate, and Professor Marvel. A voice is now heard. It's that of Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV, the proprietor of Trenillion Manor.)
Designer's Note: A modified version of the original English narration from Paris' Phantom Manor done by Vincent Price will be used here.
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still. That is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight!
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: Welcome, curious friends, to the Haunted Mansion! You may not believe it, but beauty once lived in this house. And beauty lives here still. Please show yourself.
(The five stretching portraits of the above people appear in the room.)
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: There's no turning back now. Our tour begins here in this gallery where you see paintings of some of our members as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state. Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination, hmm? And consider this dismaying observation: This chamber has no windows and no doors, which offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out! Of course, there's always my way.
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: Oh, I didn't mean to frighten you prematurely; the real chills come later. Now, as they say, look alive, and we'll continue our little tour. And let's all stay together, please.
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: There are several prominent ghosts who have retired here from creepy old crypts from all over the world. Actually, we have 999 happy haunts here, but there's room for one more. Any volunteers? If you insist on lagging behind, you may not need to volunteer. The carriage that will carry you into the moldering sanctum of the spirit world will accommodate you and one or two loved ones. Kindly watch your step as you board, please. We spirits haunt our best in gloomy darkness, so remember, no flash pictures, please. And now, a carriage approaches to carry you into the boundless realm of the supernatural. Take your loved ones by the hand, please, and kindly watch your step. Oh yes, and no flash pictures, please! We spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights. Do not pull down on the safety bar, please; I will lower it for you. And heed this warning: the spirits will materialize only if you remain quietly seated at all times.
(We now board the Doom Buggies in a room filled with cages containing the animals owned by Adventurers' Club members.)
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: We find it delightfully unlivable here in this ghostly retreat. Every room has wall-to-wall creeps, and hot and cold running chills. Shhh, listen!
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: All our ghosts have been dying to meet you! This one can hardly contain himself!
Ghost in Coffin: Let me out! Let me out!
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: Our library is stocked with priceless first additions. Only ghost stories, of course. Above are busts the the greatest horror writers the literary world has ever known.
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: Unfortunately, they all seem to have trouble getting through. Perhaps Madame Heinz can establish contact. She has a remarkable head for materializing the disembodied.
Madame Heinz: Dragons and turtles, fiddle and strum. Please answer the role by beating a drum! Ghost fiends and furies, old friends and new! Blow in a horn, so we'll know whether it's you! Serpents and spiders, tail of a cat; call in the spirits, wherever they're at. Rap on a table; it's time to respond. Send us a message from somewhere beyond. Goblins and ghoulies from last Halloween. Awaken the spirits with your tambourine. Creepies and crawlies, frogs in a pond; let there be music, from regions beyond! Wizards and witches, wherever you dwell, give us a hint, by ringing a bell!
(We now enter the ballroom, where members of the club socialize with history's great people. Among them are Harrison Hightower III, Abraham Lincoln, Henry Mystic, Julius Caesar, Cecil B. Otto Von Waterfox, Cleopatra, Kissin' Kate, Christopher Columbus and Professor Marvel.)
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: The happy haunts have received your sympathetic vibrations and are beginning to materialize. They're assembling for a swinging wake, and they'll be expecting me. I'll see you all a little later.
("Grim Grinning Ghosts" is now heard as an American Jazz Era song, being played by a saxophone, trumpet, and piano.)
When the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake,
Spooks come out for a swinging wake!
Happy haunts materialize, and begin to vocalize.
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize!
(As we enter the graveyard, we see ghosts from European countries such as Ireland, Norway, and Greece playing with each other. Because of this, "Grim Grinning Ghosts" is played as a German polka song.)
Now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide,
For a silly spook may sit by your side.
Shrouded in a daft disguise, they pretend to terrorize.
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize!
(The swamp is filled with relics of African explorers and their families. Here, "Grim Grinning Ghosts" is played as an African tribal song.)
As the moon climbs high o'er the dead oak tree,
Spooks arrive for the midnight spree.
Creepy creeps with eerie eyes start to shriek and harmonize.
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize!
(In the kitchen, chefs are preparing what seem to be delicious, gourmet meals when they are sneaking poison into the recipe. Since the cuisine they're making is Asian, "Grim Grinning Ghosts" is played as a Chinese folk song.)
Now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide,
For a silly spook may sit by your side.
Shrouded in a daft disguise, they pretend to terrorize.
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize!
(The treasure loft is hoarded with items confiscated by the Adventurers' Club members on their expeditions. Near the end of the treasure room, an ethereal glow is seen and a sweet but sinister voice is heard. It is Kissin' Kate in her wedding gown. She repeats her vows in a menacing tone ("I do...I did", "You may now kiss the bride", "And we'll live happily ever after", "As long as we both shall live", "For better or for...worse", "Here comes the bride", "'Till death do us part", "In sickness and in...wealth". Every few sayings, she raises her hand and a Wild West-style pistol appears in it. Now, "Grim Grinning Ghosts" is played as a song from Ancient Egypt.)
When you hear the knell of a requiem bell,
weird glows gleam where spirits dwell.
Restless bones etherealize, rise as spooks of every size!
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize!
Reginald Gustav Trenillion IV: Ah, there you are, and just in time! There's a little matter I forgot to mention. Beware of hitchhiking ghosts! They have selected you to fill our quota, and they'll haunt you until you return! Now I will raise the safety bar, and a ghost will follow you home!
If would like to join our jamboree, there's a simple rule that's compulsory. Mortals pay a token fee. Rest in peace, the haunting's free; so hurry back, we would like your company!
Eliza Heinz (Madame Heinz's daughter): Hurry back! Hurry back! Be sure to bring your death certificate, if you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now! We've been dying to have you!
