Disneyland Star Wars nights

Does anyone have any inside on the special event on May 3rd. Thanks

They're pretty open about what the event will entail. If you're lucky there will be some extra character appearances, but that would involve flying some costumes in from Florida since DLR has none of them onhand beyond Chewie, Kylo, Darth, storm troopers, Rey - the usuals.

Disney basically gets to sell two days worth of park tickets for one day on these events. Not quite because they sell lower quantities for the event, but still. Two days worth of tickets, yet neither group gets a full day in the parks. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

WDW does this 4 days a week for a solid 4 months every year, and people LET THEM, they even CHEER IT. It blows my mind.

They can just pick up some costumes from the store. They don't look any better in the theme parks.

Ever wonder why MK's annual attendance figures are so much higher than all of the other parks? Their operational calendar essentially has 2 additional months with all the Christmas and Halloween parties they do from August(!) through December, plus an ever-growing handful of additional dates for the Disney After Hours event in the winter and spring. It's no wonder that MK's attendance has been 10-15% higher than DL's for years, since they have more 'days' to count. Much like the endless festivals at Epcot (now covering more than 60% of the year), hard-ticket events a great way to prop up a stale park and try to hide some of its deep-seeded flaws.

Looking at the way they're running things, you'd really think that this was one final scramble before they go out of business. You'd never know that the parks were more popular and profitable than ever.

Nothing eye catching, going through the roster of events. However, if they really wanted to do something special, they should have changed the Star Tours film back to the original for one night only. C-3PO would have to stay (perhaps a sound alike could have recorded the original dialogue), but otherwise it could have been a fun trip down memory lane.

Or just do a remastered version with Threepio. Heck, they could easily have all new ride scenes for the event. That's the main gimmick of Star Tours II. They're just lazy and cheap to not do it.

Knowing Chapek and his regime, they'll do this way more often and Hyperspace will be back for another few months starting on "Star Wars Night".

Like how Season of the force lasted 2 years.

I'm over the overlays. I really do just want to ride Vanilla Space Mountain. Vanilla Space Mountain is popular enough. The more and more Disneyland commits to overlays, the more I applaud WDW for being too cheap to want to deal with them.

Oh it's awful. People keep eating out of Chapek's hands for things like this but I can't stand it, I feel like i'm being sold on Star Wars.

Disneyland After Dark Star Wars Nite sold out a couple days ago now. No more tickets are available.

What fascinates me is that almost everyone attending these events are AP holders who go to Disneyland regularly, or are tourists visiting Disneyland anyway. But TDA has somehow figured out a way to charge people a second time to go to the park again to play dress up. Absolutely amazing how they figured out that business model, and it works!

Yep, it amazes me for all the APs that complain about Disney gouging people they are the first to line up with money in hand...

psssttt they're not the same people

AP holders that complain on forums about things like this are not the same AP holders that post on Instagram their rose gold Minnie ears.

psst, I wasn't talking about the people here or on other forums. You do know I actually talk to Disney fans and APs outside of these forums....

And BTW, some of them on the forums are some of these same people.

I get the tourist thing, kinda like how we went to the MK and then paid to go to the Christmas party. As for AP's...well, AP's. Disneyland management knows they will eat up anything that is marketed as a special opportunity. I imagine we will see many more of these in the coming years and I would not be surprised to see multiple SW nights once GE opens up.

Except what you're forgetting is most people who buy a ticket for the parties at MK are already there when the party starts, they don't count twice. DL does these events also.
