Here we go again...
For the last three days Disneyland has halted ticket sales before Noon and required all incoming Park Hopper tickets to go to DCA instead of Disneyland. On Christmas Day the ticket sales were halted and the turnstiles closed by 11:30AM, and the 26th and 27th did the same thing at roughly the same time.
Freeway signs on the Santa Ana Freeway and electronic billboards on the surface streets around Disneyland have been flashing "DISNEYLAND SOLD OUT - CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE STILL OPEN" to try and warn people before they pay to enter the parking structure.
This isn't new of course, Disneyland does this every year at Christmas. But just a reminder for the East Coasters or out of towners on this site who may be planning a Disneyland trip between Christmas and New Years. To get in to Disneyland, you have to get there bright and early and commit to staying inside the Park through the late afternoon. If you leave Disneyland in late morning, you may not be let back in by lunchtime. It doesn't matter if you have a Premium AP, or a 5 Day Park Hopper, or a Grand Californian Concierge Suite. Once Disneyland hits capacity and closes, it's closed until at least late afternoon.
California Adventure remains open, but then few people drive to Anaheim just to go to California Adventure, so a lot of people just turn around and try something else.
