Hey everyone,

Yay! Finally everything is booked for my family's 2005 SoCal vacation.. except for the restaraunts. We are staying for 10 nights (5 nights at Disneyland) and so far have picked 4 restaraunts to consider eating at throughout our SoCal stay (Hook's Pointe, Yamabuki, Napa Rose, and Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen). What I need please is other suggestions and if these are good choices to eat at. We have a fairly good budget, so price isn't really an issue, we just want to have a great time on our first visit to Disneyland :D

Thanks so much in advance!!! :D

Blue Bayou is a MUST. It has great atmosphere with an indoor/ outdoor swamp side night time effect with the POTC boats starting their journey on the adjacent lagoon. You must must must must must must eat there!

Blue Bayou...meh. The atmosphere is kewl, but the food is just okay, and they crammed far too many tables in there--it's very claustrophobic. While it's kewl eating inside Pirates, you could just ride Pirates and have a better time for free. Personally, I recommend:

1) Hook's Pointe
2) Goofy's Kitchen
3) Storyteller's Café
4) Carnation Café breakfast
5) Plaza Inn breakfast
6) The Vineyard Room
7) Ariel's Grotto
8) ESPN Zone
9) La Brea Bakery

Blue Bayou is good, but the food isn't that great. You pay for the atmosphere, really, which is why I eat there.

Also, Ariel's Grotto (or whatever they're changing the name to now that Ariel is no longer there) is really good. Fairly quiet most of the time, so you get a lot of time with the characters, and they give you quite a bit of food for what you pay. $15-ish for lunch ($20-ish for dinner) gets you an appetizer, entree, non-alcholic drink, and dessert. And last time I was there, there were seven characters! It was Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Max, and Stitch.

If you have a rental car and your willing to drive somewhat off property and get tired of Disney Food...(Im going to get flamed for this)

If you want the best burger and fries....Youve got to go to an In and Out Burger. They only do burgers fries shakes. Theres one about One city block to the West and about 2 Blocks North off of Ball and Euclid.

Also for some what "chained" food Take Harbor South to Chapman for Outback/Bobs Crab Shack/Red Robin. Take Chapman East to the Block at Orange for Dave and Busters/Johney Rockets/Tu Tu Tango.

I hate to say it but just walk off property to Harbor and there is Mc D's/Tony romas/IHOP/and Mimis Cafe (they just got bought from Bob Evens)

My faves at the Parks.....
Yamabookies at Paradise Pier (the best crunchy roll youll ever have)
The best pressure cooked chicken (so moist "it will make ya wana slap yo mama")
Plaza Inn they also serve a pot roast/pasta/ and salads
Redd Rockets Pizza Port now I go for the Chicken fussilli (Chicken with alfredo sauce)
If I had to choose a burger joint ...mind you... had to, Id pick Club Buzz in TLT.
I really like Strips Dips and Chips at DCA
and for the best soft serve ice cream...Taste a Flave near Ariels Getto....(Err Grotto)

Also keep in mind that D/Ls food sizes are alot different than WDW. Its not all "thru the window." Burger and Fries or sit down. Its mostly buffetteria style (which I prefer) So adults can split a plate/dessert and two kids could split a plate. Also most locations have all you can drink stations.

Napa Rose is for sure a good choice for a nice fine dining experience (had dinner there on Christmas actually) :)

If you are looking to stay on property and like a steakhouse, check out Granville's over at the DLH. They recently redid the interior decor, and I like it a lot. I have had a better steak, but they do a great job.

Other than that, I do like the Vineyard Room (only open for dinner Fri-Sun), and Catal is always a nice place with a Mediterranean feel.
