Starting this since WDW has its own separate folder for this and we don't.
I figured too this would be easier than starting separate threads for each little thing there is to discuss. Larger projects (SWL, Eastern Gateway, GOTG, etc) that are deserving of their own threads can remain. We'll try and keep this more general. Hopefully we can keep it civilized and on-topic (unlike certain "haunted" threads from WDW)

So to get the ball rolling, according to a MiceChat article:

"Disney’s corporate fiscal year began on Monday, and Fiscal 2018 will be turning on a lot of projects both big and small around Disneyland to get ready for the giant Star Wars crowds headed to Disneyland in 2019. The rockwork in front of Tomorrowland, an unfortunate holdover from the failed New Tomorrowland project of 1998, will be removed and trimmed back to allow more elbow room in that overcrowded area of the park."

All I can say is....FINALLY!!!!

Also some highlights from the article:

Splitsville - behind schedule and likely delayed until early 2018

Build-A-Bear/RideMakerz - not being pushed out as early, since no replacements are showing themselves

New Orleans Square - to see widened walkways in preparation for SWL traffic

Not sure I understand what they want to do to With the NOS walkways? Are the going to make it one huge pathway from the ROA shore to Cafe Orleans etc? Not sure how one DCA sized walkway would fit with NOS? To accomplish that they would probably have to get rid of more trees and other details. I need more info but not liking the sound of this.

This is all the article said: In New Orleans Square, the terraced walkways that were added in a panic back in the early 1990’s to deal with Fantasmic! crowds will be redesigned for widened walkways.

I agree though, there really isn't much they can do over there.

It's interesting of course, to read about the changes to the infrastructure within the park preparing for the SW:GE crowds. But I think the momentous rumor-news is that Disney is quietly making a Hail Mary effort to appease the city council and finally get the eastern gateway project going.

Adding the link to the Mice Chat update for convenience:

Totally. The eastern gateway has been a total cluster-you-know-what for them, and odds are they are making it priority #2 (behind only SWL). They'll walk out of the city council with their collective mouse tails between their legs.

A year ago on the other coast, rather than remove the rock, they gave it a new paint job. You can see the before (right) and after (left) in this picture. This keeps the land relevant and inspiring, because everyone's vision of a better tomorrow involves earth's rock becoming a bluish metallic color.

Good to hear they're simply removing them in DL. Perhaps they've had time to think it through.

Man, I knew Frozen was taking over the world but that's ridiculous!

My prediction is they will make the fenced flower area things smaller, as well as add more gaps in the fencing to make it easier to walk from the upper levels (near HM for example) towards the river.

On another note, who thought it was a good idea to put a churro cart across from a cinnamon roll cart right next to the HM entrance? That area stresses me out big time lol.

Back in August it was very crowded. They had the walkways in NOS divided. One going one way and one the opposite direction because the lines for PotC and HM were soo long they snaked all over the place. So to get to PotC you had to use the lower walkway all the way down to SM and then turn around and use the upper walkway back to PotC. (Ugh!) Any improvement would be great.
