Disneyland Resort Attraction Rehabs: Summer 2009

Here's a list of the planned attraction refurbishments for Summer 2009. The Disneyland closures are for routine refurbishments and upgrades, while the DCA closures are mostly related to the ongoing Billion Dollar Extreme Makeover there. :lol:

Disneyland Opera House (Mr. Lincoln show), now - December 15th
Astro Orbiter, May 4th - June 26th
Peter Pan's Flight, May 4th - June 6th
Sailing Ship Columbia, May 18th - May 22nd
Snow White's Scary Adventures, June 7th - July 3rd
Pinnochio's Daring Journey, July 6th - August 7th

Disney's California Adventure:

King Triton's Carousel, now - May 22nd
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, May 18th - May 22nd
Orange Stinger, July 27th - April, 2010

I should've noted that this list came from my neighbor who works in TDA. We have sundown cocktails every few weeks, and she gives me the latest gossip from backstage.

This list is subject to change, and only goes through early August. There is planned to be an additional rehab for one of the Fantasyland dark rides in August after Pinnochio reopens; either Mr. Toad or Alice in Wonderland.

Word has it the Blue Sky Cellar will go down for an update on July 10-16 and will then include Little Mermaid. Also Orange Stinger might be going down sooner than expected. but will have to see.

The spiral-peeled orange that marks the skyline of Disney’s California Adventure will soon be gone. The Orange Stinger swing ride closes for good beginning Tuesday.

It will be re-born as the , featuring characters from the first colorized Mickey Mouse cartoon: “The Band Concert,” from 1935.

While there is no new news on attraction refurbishments this would also be a good thing to point out are the days that some entertainment is dark-

Celebrate! a Street Party- has no changes other than just one showing per day instead on 2 on select days

Also the dates for the Holidays have been released, expect "its a small world" to be down 2 week prior to the Nov 13 start date along with Big Thunder Ranch. Its going to be tight squeeze to take out HalloweenTime and swap out for Christmas but they always seem to pull it off in amazing ways with beautiful results.

Pinnochio's Daring Journey looks great! It's rather an odd dark ride, and you really need to be familiar with the movie to follow what's going on, but it's rather well done and has a ton of detail inside. The exterior is rather unique too, and nice to see it get polished up after a month of rehab.

From multiple sources, the wall around The Little Mermaid, and Paradise Park will be moving closer together, effecting the DCA parade route for Pixar Play Parade, Disney's Electrical Parade has its last run for Summer Nightastic! on Aug. 23.

Krillinish- Not sure if this is old news, but if I heard my source correctly, starting this Monday, the 24th, the walls at DCA will be closing in. Construction walls, that is. The Little Mermaid and WOC walls will only have a pathway between them that is about 10-15 feet wide. Parades will go from Sunshine Plaza to A Bug's Land, just like HSM has been. This will continue for Mickey's Halloween Treat and EP when it comes back for the holiday season.

Baloo- Yes that is correct, the walls between Mermaid and the viewing area will get closer to eachother. they need to start breaking the concrete right next to the walls on the mermaid side. Also the are suppose to start doing prep work and landscaping for the area near the walls of the viewing area. The whole parade route in that section will be lined with trees.

With the walls by Mermaid being pushed out, on Monday Aug 24, the Parade route will get shorter. The parade will only be traveling in the area between the Hollywood gates and the Tortilla gates.
