Disneyland on the actual anniversary.

Hey boys and girls,

So I'm planning on booking my flight to my first trip to Disneyland in probably ten years. I had the 16th through the 19th of next month in mind. Here's the thing. I know that it was the 60th anniversary celebration going on right now. But I didn't know that weekend was the actual exact anniversary. Now, I'm not afraid of some crowds. I'm more about the experience of just being there rather than riding as many rides as I can. That being said, I'm not looking to get into a madhouse where it's hard to even walk.

You Disneyland experts, could you tell me what I'm walking into? Is it not going to be any different than any other weekend? Am I just scaring myself? Or will it be noticeably crazy.

July 17th is the day. But that day will be focused on Walt's original park, AKA Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom, Disneyland USA, The Happiest Place On Earth. Or just "the park" as the cool CM's and hipster locals call it.

There will likely be a ceremony in the Town Square, plussed up from the usual ceremony they do every year on July 17th.

But that would also be a good day to focus on DCA, in case the crowds get too crazy at Disneyland.

I'm not convinced it will be as big a deal as the 50th Anniversary was on July 17th, 2005, but I think it will be a bit frenzied. But also special. I wouldn't worry about it; nothing could be as bad crowd-wise as the 24 Hour Party was two weeks ago.

We'll be there that week as well, and I was wondering the same thing, if we should expect 24 Hour Party-esque crowds that day.

I think the sentence I bolded in your statement says it all. Remember that and just do it. If they do a commemoration it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you, and worth any crowds. And if you have a park-hopper, I am sure you can find uncrowded things to do throughout the day.

Go, and make a memory.
