Disneyland is in AMERICA!

Why is it that so many people consider Disneyland as some far off land? They speak about it as though it was in another country. Disneyland is in the USA, in the 48 mainland states. I was just reading on another site about things people would like to do. Lists were like "visit Australia, visit Europe, visit Disneyland, visit Japan." Disneyland is not that hard of a place to visit. It's near a giant city. Going to Disneyland is no harder than going to WDW. If anything, all it is is a longer flight. You don't need a passport to go to Disneyland! If you wanna see Disneyland, just go! Skip the next WDW trip for once and try something different. Book a flight to LA instead of Orlando, that's all that's different about the process. But no, there's always gonna be the impression that WDW is "ours" and Disneyland is "theirs." :brick:

Maybe you should aim this response toward the people who are feeling disneyland ISNT in america.

Anyway, i live minutes away from Disneyland. And if you stroll around this area then it definitely doesnt feel like its in america at all. Which is why Disney was so brilliant in buying such a huge chunk of isolated land in order to do Disney World right and keep the riff-raff far far away.

If i'd recommend a disney vacation then Disneyland would be the absolute last on the list. Its great to see for nostalgia or if youre here for a quick visit but as far as parks go then its easily beat by Paris, Tokyo and Florida.

It is in a far off land, in another country - just an 11 hour flight away !!!

Actually, I was in California one other time with my family... we stayed in OC... right next to Disneyland. As much as I begged... we didn't go... I was soooooo frustrated that I could SEE it (I remember very clearly seeing Space Mountain) but they wanted to go to Universal instead. :hammer: Do you have any idea what torture that is?!

OK... so I'm not quite sure what point I'm trying to make here... but the big thing is that almost exactly 10 years after all I could do was look longingly at space mountain as Dad drove the rental towards Universal, I finally get to experience Disneyland! And I couldn't be happier about it!

I would definately recommend a trip to DL to anyone and it wouldn't be last on my list. DL is really fun and in many ways a more relaxing trip than to WDW. iwth only 2 parks which are right next to each other there is not a lot of walking and riding buses, etc like at WDW. I think the hotels right around the park are nice too. Anaheim has really cleaned up the area very nicely and the whole place has a nice resort feel to it.

I think people who love Disney, but only go to WDW are missing out and should take a trip sometime to DL. I would love to go to DLP and TDL, but those are out of my reach right now.

Maybe Disneyland is last on your list because you live near by! For others, it's a dream to go there. Besides, I think Anaheim has really cleaned up...especially since Disneyland has become a resort.

I just get annoyed with the impression many people have of Disneyland. (Like complaining about WDW not getting enough things for the 50th celebration when it's Disneyland's celebration.) It's like having two of the same sports teams in one city. Like people only seem to wanna support the "Yankees" but not the "Mets". They're both your teams! Disneyland is as much a part of the American Disney experience as WDW. Treat it that way!

Well, you go on DL boards and you'll see the same idiotic comments about WDW.
Not wanting to see as much of this world as possible in the few decades one is afforded makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Cheers.

I really wish I could find a good DL board!!!

Got any suggestions?

It amazes me how much trip planning info you can find everywhere for WDW and how hard it is to dig up some info to plan a DL trip!

Thanks!

You gotta understand that for some people, Disneyland is as far away as France ! It takes 6 hours for me to get to Disneyland and the same to get to Paris !

Disneyland is a 5.5 hour flight from me but that's not stopping me. I went last year and I'm going again later this year. I'm gonna end up going to Disneyland as often as WDW.

My favorite is at www.mouseplanet.com

There is also www.laughingplace.com but some there are a bit like Disney "cheerleaders" if you know what I mean, but haven't looked there for a few years, may be different.

There are also boards at www.miceage.com that I haven't explored much due to focussing on my upcoming WDW trip, and only wanting to spend time on so many boards before it becomes overkill.

Cheers.
