Only 1 year and 1 month from tomorrow I know what Im going to hear. Should have stayed at the Grand Californian, but anyway....

This will be my second time to DL. Last time I stayed at the Paradise Pier (absolutely nothing special, in fact I remember very little about it). But what I do remember about that trip was always walking by the DL Hotels pool and saying WOW. Dont ask me why that stuck. Anyone else stay here. What can I expect there, nice rooms?? Anyone please

It depends on what you call "nice rooms" DLH and PP hotels just came off of a room rehab...

DLH vs. the Grand. Grand has a tad more niceness to the rooms but, feel smaller. DLH rooms feel a little larger.

DLH has the shower and toilet on one side and the sink on the other side of the hallway.

The beds are nice and fluffy and off the floor! and have big sliding doors that let the coastal breeze in!

There are 3 towers Bonita, Sierra, Marina.

Sierra faces DTD and perpendicluar to the GRAND...Sierra has better view for fireworks, and Bonita (named after Jack Rathers wife who used to own the hotel)
has views of Garden Grove. All have a view of the pool on the other side of building.

It also depends do you want to spend $$ and have access to DCA or spend the extra 15 minutes to walk thru DTD and stand inline at the main turnstile that youll walk thru anyway to park hop?

Considering the prices I would stay at either DLH or PP (cause they just rehabed before the opening of Tower)

Grands pool is a waterslide in a tree.DLH is Captn. hooks boat with side, and PP just added a slide.

Parking for the Grand unless you valet is across the street next to the Sierra tower. PP has its own structure.

Enjoy.

Thanks, I would also like to know about amenities. Are the sit down resturants better in the hotels. Any other huge differences?

In the DLH, I've "heard" Granville's Stake house (if it's still there ) is great and Goofy's kitchen in "fun". I've been to Hook's Point and LOVE IT! :sohappy: At PP, if you like Japanese food, there's a great place (again, so I "hear") there. At the GC, you're looking at Napa Rose (which is supposed to be great), and Storyteller's cafe. My experience at storyteller's was disappointing, but I didn't get the buffet they have there.

Downtown Disney has some great places to eat. :)

Storyteller's breakfast buffet was good, but the characters didn't go around to the tables and there weren't that many. Goofy's Kitchen is the best character meal at Disneyland.

We stayed at DLH on our last visit and we loved it. I love that the rooms have sketches of the rides in the park and such. It is very Disney. The ppol was great and we ate at Hook's Pointe and like it.

I haven't stayed at the Grand Californian yet. It is a little too pricey I think. Sure you get a seperate entrance, but that isn't too big a deal IMO. I would like to stay there someday. Paradese Pier was kind of neat. It was our first time staying at a Disney hotel. They upgraded us to a Theme PArk view which was fantastic, especially at night with all the lights in PP at DCA. the pool was very average, but the hotel was nice.
