Hey all....

I am trying to plan an excursion to Disneyland for October and wanted to know if anyone knew when Holiday decorations and attraction dressings will begin for this year? I have time off in the end of October and I have always wanted to experience the wonder of Disney for the Christmas season. Thanks in Advance.....

How long do you plan on staying? Christmas decorations, the Giant Christmas tree and IASW Holiday go up the first week of November. The parade, I think, starts during Thanksgiving weekend. Haunted Mansion Holiday is up in early October (not to be missed :) ).

Yeah in October you will have Haunted Mansion Holiday. Toward the end of the month you may see some decorations showing up overnight in stores, etc. in preparation for it all to be done in November. We went during Halloween of 2002 and saw some Christmas decorations up a little early.

Though as others have said, you won't get the full Christmas effect in October at Disneyland, you will see the Haunted Mansion Holiday (which is a MUST!!!!!). If you haven't see it, check out The Nightmare Before Christmas before you go so you'll have an idea of what you're in for. :)

Holiday season is usually VERY busy in Disneyland, but it's also one of the most magical times to go! Being an annual passholder, I have the advantage of not feeling like I need to ride everything every time I go (which is once every 4-6 weeks), so I personally just LOVE strolling around with my wonderful husband and a holiday treat! :)

If you really feel like you're missing out though, you can head into the Christmas shop in New Orleans Square any time of the year and spin around in circles for a while to get the feeling! :sohappy: :xmas:

One of my favorite things last year turned out to be the decorations in New Orleans Square. Take a stroll through the streets, back towards the Christmas Shop. So pretty!!

Hey thanks everyone for the photos and insight! I guess I will have to just find a way to get there for the November start date. I have been wanting to go for years but was in Vancouver at school....hence not a cheap flight. Thanks again for all the responses ....any other tips and insight is greatly welcome. All the best..... :sohappy:

I read that in the fall disneyland will have a new tour called, "“Mysteries, Myths, and Legends,” The new tour is to offer an eerie look at the park and the tour takes place at the closing of both parks allowing guest to ride 3 e-ticket rides. Have no idea the cost, but a flyer is to be sent out in the fall. Sounds very interesting and perfect for Halloween.
