Well, I doubt many guests in the parks think this is true....

>>In Disney’s fourth fiscal quarter ending Oct. 1, the Walt Disney Co. reported its Parks and Resorts division that includes Disneyland and Walt Disney World experienced a 10-percent decline in attendance, year over year. Disney does not divulge attendance numbers.

“On a comparable fiscal-period basis, attendance was down about 3 percent, as higher attendance at Walt Disney World was more than offset by lower attendance at Disneyland, which was (compared to) very strong attendance in Q4 2015,” McCarthy said.<<

I know, a lot of Disneyland has been closed and walled off from Star Wars Land, which does make the park feel more crowded, and maybe limited ticket sales some days due to fire marshal capacity.

Still interesting to see...

Was there tues-weds and we could walk around with our arms outstretched and not touch another person. Most rides were walk ons to. It was wonderful!

I usually visit when the crowds are predicted to be lower, but that's when there are no AP blackouts. So the last few times I've visited, the parks have been crowded. Maybe it's time to change my strategy and visit when the AP's are blacked out.

It sounded like the decline of attendance happened in September. That would make sense since it was the end of summer and all 60th anniversary events.
During last year 4th quarter the celebration was still going strong and it also included an additional week

Why would anyone want to come to such a small original park in the middle of a city that happens to have lots of rides, new shows and great dining options and perfect weather when they can go to a place where your bused to multiple parks that have less rides and shows that have been there for thirty years, 100+ degree humidity and potentially get eaten by alligators?

Yes - come when as many APs are blocked as possible. With the exception of Christmas week, those are now lovely. Thanksgiving has been very uncrowded the last couple years.

I doubt it. I really don't think the average day tripper is going to figure out when AP blackout days are.
But the number of AP'ers may have scared some of us now former AP'ers from both renewing and day tripping. I really wish the attendance would drop by like 30%.

Disney's goal, 95% of capacity attendance every day of the year,at every park. And they have been doing a lot of things to make that goal, such as surge pricing, special promos, etc....

I wish that they could find a way for lower attendance days, bit then Iwould also like to see Adult only hours (such as no strollers), etc.

In the end, Money wins out.

I dropped my AP because my family is getting tired of going. We aren't hitting up the park as much as we should. There just isn't enough time anymore.

Well, there is time vs cost.

I currently don't have a Disney AP, but use sign ins as my access.

But I just got back from two days at SeaWorld, and have a long term Platinum Pass that we pay monthly.

I also got my Six Flags Gold Pass with a Dining Plan through the Labor Day super discount sale. I switched from the monthly payment, since the costs of the dining plan as an addition was about equal to the monthly payment of the Gold Pass alone.

I have had a Knott's/Cedar Fair Platinum Pass since they were issued.

And I do have an Universal AP that is specific to me. (Something similar to the Disney Silver Pass).

But if you look at the basic Six Flags, Knott's SeaWorld and Universal passes, most days you can go to the parks (no major summer blockout), and it is cheaper for all 4 than the Disneyland AP's.

Same with us for the most part. Kids got older, soccer every weekend, less free time and quite honestly, less of an appreciation or desire to go. One of those things we just didn't enjoy as much, the old "too much of a good thing" story.
