I really enjoy watching classic tv specials of the past all about WDW....Some were strange and some were just always fun to watch...Here's a few that I recently seen pop up on Youtube. I remember hearing the explanation for this. If I remember correctly it was because Jackson wanted to not be bombarded by crazy fans.
