Disney World in a cast/walking boot?

Ok, so we are going to Disney on March 22nd for my older daughter to march with our high school band down Main Street. My younger daughter (11 years old) just hurt her ankle at dance class 3 days ago and pending a visit to the orthopedic doctor, she may be in a walking boot or cast.

My question is: How is Disney with riding rides with a cast on the foot? Has anyone tried this?

I know that we can get a wheelchair for her so she doesn't have to walk and that we probably can use the handicap entrance/exits to enter most rides, but my understanding is that as long as she can transfer to the ride vehicle, she will be allowed to ride.

She would be very upset not getting to ride Space Mountain or Rock n RollerCoaster.

It is like anything else. How much can her foot handle on a more turbulent ride? Certain rides will have the signs that people with physical limitations, motional sickness, pregnancy should not ride. Key word being "should." The cast members won't stop you. I've seen plenty of people over the years with casts ride. It will depend on what your daughter's foot can handle without making her feel uncomfortable.

Yea, the wheelchair will be a must, she will probably enjoy getting transported around, kinda like a princess! lol

As for what her ankle can handle, I don't think the ride forces are going to be an issue, it's mainly an issue with her putting weight on it right now, and we have a few weeks for that to get better. I just want to be prepared.

My daughter was in a walking boot one trip and we ended up renting a wheelchair for most days, she seemed to do pretty well at MK not needing one-everything so close together. When we got to an attraction she wanted to walk so we just parked it like a stroller where ever we went. This worked well for her.

Been there done that!

Back in 06' I severely sprained my foot and ankle, the Dr. said it would have been better if I broke it. Anyway the day I left for my trip they put a walking boot on me so I would be more mobile in the parks. While we were in the parks I rented a electric wheel chair since I was only allowed on my foot for short periodes of time (You may want to consider this). As for rides I was fine, I rode EE, RnRC, Soarin you name it I did it as long as I could stand being in line. However in some instances CM's would have me go through the wheel chair access area so they could help me on to the ride (rides like KS, SSR).
I think your daughter will be fine just talk to CM's before heading on to a ride b/c they may prefer that you go through a different entrance.
