Have spent Christmas week at the WDW Animal Kingdom Lodge, attended the Candlelight Processional on certain occasions during the holiday. WDW is absolutely beautiful during the holiday season had a wonderful, magical time visiting the parks and hotels

Mods, can you please move to Gen disc or trip planning?

Xmas is a really special time at WDW. The magic gets amplified. Everyone should do a holiday trip at least once in their lives.

I have been there several times over Christmas itself as well as a few weeks b/w Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you can, go before the actual holiday. There are decorations everywhere you look and the parks all have special events for the holidays. MK has MVMCP, AK has JIngle Jammin' Parade and the characters decked out in their holiday finery, Epcot has The holiday Storytellers and the Candlelight Processional, and HS has the Osborne Lights. Crowds are relatively moderate in Dec. up until Christmas. Christmas week is a madhouse with extremely long lines for everything!!! I waited 20 minutes once during Christmas week to do the Swiss Family Treehouse and I only waited because it had the shortest line! I still have nightmares of being packed like sardines on the bridge b/w Liberty Square and the main hub while people shoved their strollers and scooters into my legs. Go earlier in the month; then you can really appreciate Disney Word at the holidays.

We went our first year as DVC'ers. Was there the last full week before Christmas week. It was wonderful. It was also the coldest week in December in Orlando in over 50 years. The nights actually got down into the 20's. So pack well and really watch the weather forecasts. We did the Mickey's Christmas Party. Do it. Don't need to do it over and over, but once is fun. We now go to the World the week of Thanksgiving. We get in the Saturday before, spend a night at one of the DVC resorts, and leave Sunday morning for the 3 day Disney cruise to the Bahamas. We get back on Wednesday am, spend Wednesday at MK, Thursday do traditional Thanksgiving dinner at DHS, and do the Osborne lights, then Friday at EPCOT and the start of the Candlelight Processional. Last year was Geena Davis and this year it's Gary Sinese. All the parks are decorated, (except as everyone says, the tree at MK is not up). The week of Thankskgiving it gets bad at MK in the afternoon on Thursday, but DHS is ok and so is EPCOT on Friday. Then its home with a great memory to start the December rush. Did I mention even the cruise is decorated for Christmas. Huge tree at the dock in Castaway Cay and Gingerbread house on the ship. Great memories. 80 days and we are there. Have a great trip no matter when you go, BUT GET moving,

Not enough space to go through everything but first and foremost..Be prepared for it being crowded. Once you have accepted the fact that there may be times you can't get to something because of the people being packed in you are well on your way to having fun. Decorations at every resort and park are great, Osborne lights, candlight processional and at least once vist to MVMCP are musts. Reservations for dinners at this point are scarce but available if you are flexible with your dining times. You'll end up packing for every kind of weather as I think each year we have gone the temps during our stay ranged from 25-80 so watch the forecast. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! We are going back for the days leading up to and just past christmas day.
