Mickey's Magical Gathering show in Dallas 12/11

Some background on what I found out: Dallas recently got a Christmas tree that rivals that of the Christmas Tree in Rockafeller Center in New York. They plan to light that tree on this upcoming Saturday.

I was watching TV last Friday night, and cought the tail end of an advertisement that seemed to hint that there was going to be a Disney show in Dallas as part of the Tree Lighting stuff. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything else about it....until this morning.

I was watching the local CBS station for the news this morning, and saw the entire commercial. Disney's participating in the tree lighting stuff this year. There was even a pull out section in the local Dallas newspaper about the event. It looks like it's going to be a WONDERFUL show! I can't wait! :-)

Didn't get to post a review earlier

I wish I had gotten to doing this earlier, but I thought it might be worth posting what I thought of the show in Dallas a few weeks ago.

My roommate and I got to Dallas City Hall around 1:45pm, right before the Beach Boys performed. They were pretty fun to listen to live. We walked around the various booths set up. They were showing a video on two large screens of the various Disney World parks, which looked to be one of those "Top 10 things to do" type of videos.

We made our way to a spot to watch the show early....expecting a VERY large crowd. It was so crowded that I was literally stuck where I was. Just before the show started, the Mayor came out to welcome everyone. She hinted that she was trying to get Disney World to do a show again next year for the Tree Lighting....<Crossing fingers>

The show started with several of the major Disney characters on the stage. They did a few Christmas songs. After, they started doing a musical tour through each of the four Disney Parks. They did a song medely for the Magic Kingdom that had some of the Disney Princesses involved in it. Next, they did a song from MGM studios, which was pretty fun to watch. Next, came a very pleasant surprise. They did a song from EPCOT. The one they picked was the theme for Journey into Imagination.....and right in the middle of the song, out of a box pops Figment! That was definately something I wasn't expecting, but I was very pleased with that. Finally, they did a song from Animal Kingdom which included Rafiki (I think I spelled that right). Then the rest of the major Disney characters came back out and they did another Christmas song, and then they had Tinkerbell light the Christmas Tree, compelte with some fireworks and a singalong.

Overall, it was a wonderful show.....we not only got it on video tape, but I recorded the re-broadcast of the show on TV. Here's hoping they do another show next year!
