Pre-Trip Disney World August 2016 (AKA Riding Haunted Mansion a Minimum of Six Times)

Hola friends!

I have no idea how to write one of these things but I'm going to try since we are TWELVE days away from our trip and I am so excited! My boyfriend and I will be taking our second annual trip to Disney World as a couple. I am in my late twenties and he is in his early thirties. I am a Disney World veteran, having visited multiple times with my family since I was very little and having done one semester in the college program (best time ever). My boyfriend is a recent convert but he loves going to Disney World (almost) as much as me.

We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge from August 20th-28th. Here are our current plans minus the various bars and lounges we plan on going to (we love Trader Sam's but we're open to suggestions if you have any). Keep in mind that all of our plans are subject to change because we are super casual when it comes to vacationing. We frequently change our minds when it comes to what parks we want to go to. Some days we sleep in and some days we get to the parks at rope drop. Okay, here goes...

Day One: This is a travel day which starts ridiculously early (we need to be at the airport around 3:30 in the morning) but we'll arrive in Orlando around 2:00 so that's good. Our plan is to go to Magic Kingdom and our FastPasses are for Haunted Mansion, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Haunted Mansion is my favorite favorite attraction. I will be riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for the first time and I am terrified. I am not a coaster person because I don't like the drop feeling. My poor boyfriend had to go by himself last year but this year I am determined to try it. We have a 7:40 dinner reservation at California Grill so I am not sure if we will catch Wishes there or if we will go back into Magic Kingdom to watch.

Day Two: This is a sleep in day for sure. We'll probably hang around our resort and maybe go in the pool. We have a lunch reservation at Sanaa and from there we will head to Hollywood Studios. FastPasses include: Star Tours, Toy Story, and Indiana Jones. We'll probably get a quick-service dinner in Hollywood Studios, but I'm not sure where. Any suggestions? I usually get lunch at Starring Rolls but it closes in the afternoon so I don't know any good places for dinner. That night we have a Galactic Spectacular dessert party reservation because my boyfriend loves Star Wars.

Day Three: Our tentative plan is to go to Disney Springs in the morning/early afternoon to shop around and have a quick-service lunch. We'll head to Magic Kingdom in the afternoon with FastPasses for Space Mountain (for my boyfriend), Space Ranger Spin, and Peter Pan's Flight. We have an 8:30 ADR for Hoop-Dee-Doo which neither of us has ever experienced.

Day Four: Our tentative plan is to visit Typhoon Lagoon in the morning/early afternoon. We'll probably grab a late lunch back at our resort before going to Epcot for the evening. We have FastPasses for The Seas, Spaceship Earth, and Frozen and a dinner reservation at Via Napoli prior to Illuminations.

Day Five: As of right now, this is a Magic Kingdom day. We have FastPasses for Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean. We have a lunch reservation at Be Our Guest. Last trip we had dinner there but we've never tried the quick-service lunch. We will definitely make use of the rolling fourth FastPass before going to Whispering Canyon for dinner. Then we'll go back to Magic Kingdom for Wishes and EMH.

Day Six: We are going to Epcot with FastPasses for Journey Into Imagination, The Seas, and Soarin'. We'll probably grab a quick-service lunch in World Showcase (as well as a few drinks that I am excited to try). We have an ADR for a late dinner at Ohana and then we'll figure out what to do for the rest of the night. I want to try Ample Hills Creamery and the AbracadaBar at the Boardwalk so this might be a good opportunity for that.

Day Seven: Our plan is to rope drop Magic Kingdom until lunchtime. Then we'll go Hollywood Studios where we have FastPasses for Star Tours, Toy Story, and Muppet*Vision. We have an ADR at 50's Prime Time for dinner before we watch Fantasmic.

Day Eight: We will go to Animal Kingdom in the morning until lunchtime. Dinosaur is closed and I am not interested in the Jungle Book show, so as much as I love Animal Kingdom, we probably won't spend a ton of time there. We'll end the day at Magic Kingdom with FastPasses for Haunted Mansion, PhilharMagic, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Our last vacation ADR is for the Skipper Canteen. We'll finish our trip with one last viewing of Wishes.

Day Nine: We will get up pretty early and spend the day traveling home.

So that's our trip as it stands right now! What do you guys think?! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. We are both really excited and I can hardly believe that we leave so soon! I guess now we should start packing (but let's be realistic, we'll probably pack the night before). Thanks for reading!

Wow! You have a great trip planned! Have fun!

I'm thinking of booking the Star Wars dessert party as a surprise for my parents (if Disney continues it into December, that is), so I'm eager to hear what you think of it! Also, since you mentioned you love lounges/bars, be sure to hit Territory Lounge in WL (which I'm sure you're planning to do already since you're staying at WL, the best resort on property ;)), but make sure you save some room for apps! They always have some kind of fondue (last time I was there it was pinot grigio based) and it is always delicious!

I'm really excited to try the Territory Lounge and I will definitely let you know how the dessert party is!

We're coming down on the 24th. We usually stay at WL but will be at the Poly this time - it's sneaking up on WL as our favorite. In April we were on the side of the WL that faces the MK and some of the bungalow - or whatever they're calling it - construction. The up side was that they had cleared so many trees that we could see MK fireworks from our balcony! Anyhow... Don't worry about 7DMT - I don't like drops either and it's fine for me. Super smooth - a fun ride. Sorry - I don't have any quick serve dinner suggestions for HS. Maybe just skip dinner and eat more dessert!
