Disney Visa Question

Well, I finally applied for the Disney Visa. :) I applied online through Chase, because I found a link that offers a $100 gift card for new members. I received an email stating that I will get a notice in the mail in 7-14 business days regarding approval. If I am approved, will the card arrive with the notice?

Disney Visa (CHASE) $200 Offer

I got an offer in the mail about 3 weeks ago, went online & applied and got the cards about a week later. I then called Disney to adjust our June reservation with the PIN code for kids 3-9 stay, play & eat for free (I found the code on www.tourguidemike.com that I belong to - Chase did not send me the offer).

You did have to put a purchase on the card, but I dont think our rewards will show up until our statement cuts in May. Im worried there will not be enough time for our rewards card to arrive for our vaction use, but read you can also redeem your rewards at the parks???

Do they just give you a gift card there on the spot?

I've done quite a bit of forum searching and have read that if the rewards points are posted to your account, then you can pick up the redemption card at one of the guest relations booths at the parks or DTD. You then need to call Visa and have them transfer the points to the card you are given. I read that they will provide you with the instructions..

I just went back and read my email.. the email says 15-30 days, while the window after the online application said 7-14? I'm hoping I do get it next week because my trip is planned for the end of May. I noticed if you applied through Disney they can give you instant approval, but I applied through Chase for the offer. Yes, it did say make one purchase to receive the gift card. Hopefully I get it in time!

I got my Disney Visa a few months ago with a similar offer, but I got the reward points instead of an actual gift card after my first purchase, so make certain that was not the offer you received.

In terms of approval, if you enter all the information electronically online and provide an email, you'll get an email first. I think I got my email confirmation only a week after I applied, and the card arrived in the mail a few days later. If you did this you should have your confirmation and card soon, and you can use it right away for your first qualifying purchase before the end of the month. Any rewards will be available after that statement arrives.

I'm not understanding this delayed approval. When I applied a few years ago online, I had instant approval. I can't even recall the last time I had to wait more than it took the borwser to re-load to be approved a credit card. Of course, back then, all I got was a $25 gift card.

I applied for the card several times before I got approved (has fab credit too). Regardless, If it said a letter was coming, in my case, it always meant I didn't get approved. Finally, this year I got approved (it was instant approval). The 100.00 showed as a credit on my statement, however, my first purchases on the card were are WDW.

If you have a fraud alert on your credit report, it might have to verify your identity, or if you have a security freeze on your credit report, it won't be able to pull your credit.

To find out if you were approved, just call chase. They will tell you if you did or didn't. That is what I always did. Good luck.

All banks have tightened credit policies thanks to the government's new rules on what they can hit people with on credit card fees and rates. Even if they say "instant approval" it still goes through a credit review process to determine your rates and credit limit, so there will still be a delay in receiving the card. Just another aftershock of the whole recession and regulation mess.

I understand that. There is always a delay in receiving the actual card. I was talking about the instant approval though. I just applied for another card on Monday and knew about a minute after submitting the application that I had been approved. It did, however, indicate that my credit limit was only temporaray, so when I get the card I expect to have a higher credit limit than was pre-approved. Usually the only time I've been told to wait for a letter that meant I was denied.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Maybe the fact that I had to wait had something to do with the time I applied? It was later at night on a weekend.

It says for DVC members, but I've heard it does not really matter if you are or not. Also, I played with the numbers on the link-- if you change the last digit -- the "8" -- to another number (0-9), you can see different offers. The $100 gift card is the best option though.

Possibly. I tend to only apply for these at the office during the day (I only applied for the most recent one because it offered an instant $40 credit, which would have paid for my purchase).

It will arrive separately, after you activate the card. I don't remember how long it took for me to get mine (it was a few years ago).

I also leave in a month, so I'm hoping I get it in time too. I applied for the card on Sunday and today received a letter saying they need proof of my address before evaluating my application. So I have to mail it to them and keep waiting. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my card, make the purchase, and get the gift card in time at this rate. I'm wondering if I should have gone into a Chase branch and applied?

to redeem your points I believe it is recommended that you apply for your points card about 30 days prior to you needing them. This time allows for processing and the mailing of your card. The other way of doing this if you are going to WDW is a card can be picked up at Guest relations in DTD ONLY (unless this has recently changed). Once you have the card you can call and give chase the number on the point card and they will at that point apply them instantly to the card for your use. We use the point to pay for meals and gifts when at WDW. It saves us alot of money.
