Disney veterans: Jedi training sign up strategy

ok, I need details. When I get into DHS, I'm assuming I'll go straight there to sign my boys up. I'm also assuming it's off to the left near star tours? Should I plan on taking advantage of EMH just for this? By what time of the day are all spots filled? Thanks in advance!

Yes it is off to the left at the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost. You will want to get there at open to sign up and the kids must be with you. They have a list of questions to ask the kids to make sure they will be able to handle being on stage with Darth Vader and The Seventh Sister Inquisitor. If they have EMH's I would plan on being there when they open for the EMH's. Most all of the spots will fill up immediately. Also if you are not in the first rush you may get a time later in the day/early evening. It can be a bit inconvenient if you are there at open but your training time is not until 5 or 6 at night.

Thank you!
You basically have 2 choices-
1 - arrive 1 hour before park opening, head straight to sign ups, won't have to wait in line very long.

2- arrive at park opening, wait in a very long line, risk missing the cut off.

I chose option 2..we made it, but the line was closed within minutes of us entering.

Good luck!! It's so worth it!!!! My best advice would be just try to get an early time so it is less disruptive to your day. There were not any early spots left when we reached the podium.

Thanks! I think we will try to go with option 1. I don't think I want to take the chance knowing they would be heartbroken if we didn't get there in time.

Definitely. In 2015 we had a very early Ohana breakfast reservation, waited to be seated longer than expected, and my original plan of leaving by 8:15-8:30 was no longer possible. We arrived at 9:15, sign ups were closed. Kiddo was extremely disappointed and I was extremely heart broken. So in 2016 I ordered room service for breakfast, then took a taxi to the park so I knew that we would make it.

You'll be fine if you arrive before park opening. Enjoy!:)

We went in November on a non magic hour day. We just made sure to be at the gate about 30 minutes early. We hurried over to the sign up but the line was already pretty long when we got there. We probably waited 45 min or so but we were able to get in and the time we wanted no problem. They were also giving out fast passes to everyone in line for their entire party! That was a huge help to us! So don't stress as long as you are at the gate early before the park opens you will make it ;)

The fastpass was a lifesaver to us!!! It's the only reason we were able to ride Toy Story Mania!

When you say FP, do you mean as in an extra??? We already have our 3 booked. Would this be a 4th? Do they tell you where/when to use it?

I don't know if it's something they always do, or if it's just to those who have a long wait.. but we were given an "anytime fastpass" for each of us.

Get an early breakfast reservation at Hollywood and vine( before park opens). Send someone to go get in line and then swap out so everyone can eat bfast

They allow you to pick a time you would like to do the training as long as its still available. I actually like doing the training later in the day. We use the earlier hours to do rides with little wait times. Then all mid day we do shows, eat etc. Later in the day we have gotten our shows etc out of the way. Plus if its really hot those children wearing those robes during the heat of the day just roast. And the sun really beats down on you watching it as well. When the sun is a little less strong its a more pleasant experience. THe later times book up slower too so I am pretty assured to get the time I planned on when I made my schedule up too.

When we were there in July, they were allowing people in prior to park opening and holding the crowd on Hollywood Blvd.
There was a sign directing Jedi Training guests to the left, and we were able to get in line a good 15 minutes prior to opening. The first few shows were full, but we had our pick of anything after 11am.
Had I known they began sign up before opening, I would've been there an hour early. They stopped registration before 10am.

It was such a fun experience! I hope it works out for your family!

We are driving home from our trip right now. We were at the park 1hr before and security was very thorough. Budget at least 30mins for everyone in front of you and your party to get searched. Give one person all of the bags and head in to the park and look to the left. There will be and sign and a large group waiting, at opening a CM will walk with you back to the sign in area. We got in and as we were heading to other attractions we saw the line get cut off about 9:20.

I wonder if the switch to FP+ has made this line worse at opening -- at least before people with young children had to made the call whether to go to TSMM for paper FP or a quick ride versus signing up for Jedi training. Now, people can have their FP+ in hand so the this is the main urgent thing to rush to in the morning.

We are going to DW Nov. 12-17. I was wondering if anyone else had tried signing up for the Jedi Training around this time. According to crowd calendars that I've seen, Tuesday 13 would be a good day to visit. Just trying to get an opinion on whether or not we should try for a spot.

No matter what the crowd predictions are- arrive at the park at 8am or shortly after.
