Disney Under World South Africa

This idea may be the best idea I've had as of yet!

I propose that Disney buy the spent underground gold mines in South Africa and restore it into a giant underground theme park. In some places of the mine, the depths reach several miles under the Earth's surface.

They will have to bring in air conditioning and ventilation systems, electric, plumbing, water, transportation systems, etc. In addition to the theme park, hotels in the underground space can be created as well.

Attractions could include Journey to the Center of the Earth, an Indiana Jones-style mine train roller coaster (for adults), a Snow White Mine Coaster for the kids, an Indiana Jones Adventure (based on the original proposal for DL), a free-fall to the abyss, etc. A section could be created to look like the inside of a hollowed out asteroid and have the first ever Star Wars themed Space Mountain!

What do you think?

who do you propose to be the target guest patronage?
Anyone with a sense of adventure. As I said, there would be attractions for all ages, so it would be great for families - or individuals seeking thrill, excitement, adventure. This would truly take people to places most of us have never seen!

Also, wouldn't it cost like more money than all of the parks around the world combined to make all of the ventilation systems and water and stuff?

Yeah, just one piece of rock needs to fall, and the whole place shuts down, billions could be lost. Love the idea @PeterAlt, but WAY too risky for the company that will pick up pennies and let dollars fly over their heads.
They would have to install redundant reinforcement support structures to make sure that never happens.

No, because those systems are mostly already there for the safety of the miners.
I highly doubt the health standards for a South African miner are anywhere near the level Disney would want for their guests. New ventilation, water, electricity and re-inforcment would have to be installed.

True, but not all the underground space will be used at first, just a small part of it, meaning that less infrastructure would be required to get built at first.

What difference does that make? If you plan to use all the space then you're going to have to pay for it all eventually.

That's like saying, "WDW has 30,000 acres... Might as well bury monorail footers throughout the property..."

There's a slight difference between having unused land and having a mine that could collapse at any moment.

It's a creative idea, but there are too many dangerous factors.
