My Wife and I are planning a trip in July and she wants to go see Harry Potterville.

I was debating on renting a car or taking a cab. Alamo said it was $50 from the car care center.

Has anyone taken a cab from Disney to Universal? How much was it?

The Mears site estimates $28-$35 each way depending on where on Disney property you are for a taxi.

The Mears shuttle bus would be $18 per person round-trip, though might not get you to the park before opening. (When I took the bus in Sept '09 it got me there at about 9:30am) A rental car would be your most-flexible, though you also have to factor in parking at Universal ($14 or $15, I believe)

Check Mousesavers.com for rental codes and coupons. Book something now, but keep an eye on the rates to see if it drops as your trip gets closer.

I just wanted to do a semi bump and see if there is anyone else that can chime in.

Rob- How does the Mears shuttle work? Is it a schedule? Where do they pick up / drop off? Based on your previous experience would you take the shuttle again?

Mears will pick you up outside your hotel. When you call, they'll give you one or two pickup times to choose from. It's a shared-ride setup, so depending on the crowds the routes may be different on any given day. The van or bus will pick up at multiple hotels, and then head off property.

They'll stop at SeaWorld first, drop people off there, then continue on to Universal. (This is one reason why using Mears to get to Universal for opening isn't always possible) At Universal they drop you off at the bus drop-off area near the parking garages. You can either book your return time with the driver then (they'll again give you a few options) or give you a phone number to call to schedule your pickup time.

Thanks for the info Yensid. This will also help me as I will be most likely taking Mears to Universal Studios during my trip in Disney!

I think I might be going the cab route. I like the idea of being able to get there when the park opens and then not having to worry about heading home after.
