Is this something new or has Disney always done this?

Disney is selling these dolls in the parks at WDW and Disneyland with the Disney Store logo on them.

Seems VERY cheap of Disney. We've gone from WDW branded to Disney Parks and now Disney Store. Ugh, but kind of makes sense from a manufacturing/business sense. Still I don't like it though.

Oh and they cost MORE in the parks than in the Disney Store.

It has gotten pretty generic. I miss the olden days when there were more park specific and also ride specific merchandise. I don't want to be able to get the same shirt at the Disney store in the mall that I can at the parks. Takes some of the uniqueness away I think.

I'd spend a lot more in the parks if there were things that I couldn't get anywhere else or at any other time.

Generic merch is nothing new, especially with the number of Disney Stores that have been shut down since 2004.

They try to hide it by getting different logos printed on the boxes, but mistakes do slip through. I remember last year, someone posted a photo of Tokyo Disneyland merchandise that was for sale at Epcot.

Quality of the dolls has gone up though. Not since the days of Barbie doing all the dolls have they been this nice (imo).

The majority of merchandise in the American Disney parks has been utter crap for years, which is why I buy a lot of my Disney-related things on eBay.

I've read a ton of reviews on the monorail sets. This seems to be the norm. The toy monorail is slow, doors fall off, characters don't fit right, etc... But yet, as long as people are going to pay $85 for it, why make it of any better quality? Hence, why there is a guy, I think he still does it, that if you send him your engine monorail car, will put a more powerful motor in it for you, for a small fee.

Well, I noticed the Toy Story dolls of Woody and Jessie are the same dolls they sell at the Disney Store but at least they're in different boxes marked "Disney parks" and not "Disney store."
Doesn't bother me since there are so few Disney stores out there now but they should at least have the decency to package them a little differently

We noticed some of this with princess costumes. For the most part, the park authentic costumes are different in style and quality level than the Disney Store costumes, but we noticed a few back in 2012 that were the same. Both of the Merida costume dresses as well as the Rapunzel wedding dress sold at the Disney Store were the same exact dresses that were being sold in the Disney parks. I believe this has since changed, but for months (maybe longer) the park dresses were the same as the Disney Store dresses...just with higher price tags for the same exact things.

That started happening decades ago. Back in the 80's, I bought a reversible jacket in the MK on Main Street. I was so proud of it. It cost $50. I came home and in Maison Blanche, a big department store in New Orleans, at the time had racks of them. Then my mother-in-law informed me she got it for $10. I still have it and wore it til there were holes in it.

I purchased several tshirts in the parks MK & Epcot and even at Lake Buena Vista before it was renamed in the early 90's that I haven't seen anywhere else since, even on ebay.

My favorite is one with a map of the world on the front and back (the same image on both sides) with the castle of each park marking where each park is. This was before Tokyo Disney so it has MK, DL, Euro Dis, and HK. Even when I would visit the parks around the times of buying them, or my parents buying them for me, I never saw anyone walking around the parks with the shirt.

Now it seems there are only 5 or 6 shirts that everyone has and hardly any of them have the park name even mentioned on them.

Even the small kiosk outside of Captain EO closed down. It was the only place I'd seen to get the Captain EO feather shirt anywhere but that is gone now. Its a shame they are reducing the number of unique offerings.
