Disney Store coming to Vegas Strip

[RSD Part Deux]

I got word that a Disney store will be coming to the Vegas strip. It will be in the Fashion Show Mall and be over 5000sq feet. It is going to be "Vegas'd up" - each morning a child will be given a key to open a giant padlock which will unlock the front door and the magic. Resulting in Tinker Bell flying around the store as she awakens the store. This will be accompanied by projection fireworks.

Meh. It won't work if Disney fills it with the same overpriced schlock that fills up the other Disney Stores. The concept was successful when it combined experience and unique merchandise. A Disney marquee does not justify spending more for what is available at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us and plenty of other places.

I don't know about projection fireworks and Tinker Bell, but the key thing at opening is done at every one of the new Disney Stores nationwide.

They used to have an amazing Art of Disney store at that same mall.

You get a keepsake pin for "waking up" the store. They do that at the Mall of America Disney Store in Minneapolis, MN - I've tried to be the only "kid" for the store opening at least a 1/2 dozen times...I NEVER get picked!!

I've often thought that the one thing Vegas needs is a Disney Store. It will really help solidify its family-friendly atmosphere. Will those graphic prostitute business cards that are scattered on the sidewalks be found in every Disney bag?
