Disney Springs Coca Cola Bar

Hi all,

I am going to be heading to Disney in June after nearly 12 years since my last visit (eek!), and I am just beginning to plan everything now.

One of the things I am interested in doing is spending one of the relaxing days at Disney Springs, and I have discovered the Coca Cola Bar that is on top of the Cola store there. The menu says that they do the mexican bottles of coke, and I am just wondering if anybody can confirm if it is the version sweetened with cane sugar?

Apologies if this seems like an incredibly random question, but I have heard good things about the mexican coke and have been really curious to try it for ages. Unfortunately, the costs with getting any here in the UK are a tad insane, so if they are selling that version at the store in Disney Springs then it's definitely going to be a must-visit. :D

Thanks!

The "Mexican" Cokes taste like the real Cokes tasted when I was a kid. (66 now)
That was because they used cane sugar back then rather than corn syrup U.S. bottlers use now. The "Mexican" Cokes use cane sugar and they are in glass bottles rather than cans.
Here in south Alabama I buy them by the case at a local big box store. They cost a little more but it is worth it.
I can also remember when a bottle of Coke cost $0.06... :arghh:

If that is the case, UK Cokes probably taste the same as Mexican Cokes. I don't know why ($$$???) they use corn syrup in the US but the cane sugar cokes ARE better in my opinion.
The reason Coca-Cola was switched to corn syrup in the US and Canada goes back to the very first bottling contract. Asa Chandler thought bottling was a dumb idea that didn’t work. He sold the bottling rights for next to nothing and within the contract The Coca-Cola Company would provide sugar to the bottlers at a fixed price. Switching to high fructose corn syrup ended decades of having to make gentleman’s agreements with all of the individual bottlers to increase the price of sugar. The UK website for a Coke lists sugar as an ingredient, but I don’t know enough about UK and EU ingredient laws to know if that means that can list “sugar” but use something different than the sugar used for Mexican Coke.

Pepsi is going retro and using cane sugar again...I assume Coke will not be far behind in the future. The cane sugar blend has a different taste from what we have been accustomed to over the years, but at least its original flavor coming back! Now, how do we get the US to start bottling Coke instead of another country!? Yeah, I know they say its cheaper to outsource brands, but the US is VERY capable of doing it. I guess it all comes down to greed in the end! That's all I am saying, because I know Political issues have NO PLACE here on WDWMAGIC! I was just saying, no political tone intended...so drop it and move on! ;) HAVE A GREAT MONDAY EVERYONE!

Huh? Coca-Cola is bottled locally throughout the US. Coca-Cola has said they have no plans to switch back to sugar. There was some thought that they might when The Coca-Cola Company bought Coca-Cola Enterprises thus ending much of the underlying reason for switching to corn syrup.

They shouldn't have Coke bottled in Mexico if we have bottling plants here! Just as Hershey's laid off a lot of the workforce here in US to move to Mexico!(That's what I read last, but haven't heard anything else)

Per the Coke site noted below, you can now buy Cokes that use Cane Sugar and Stevia. It's called Coke Life. 35% fewer calories than "regular" sodas.

I started buying the Coca Cola Life in the glass bottles when they were first sold in my hometown. My mom and grandfather had one and they both thought it tasted more like the Coke they grew up with. So I began buying it for them every time I saw it in stock at the grocery store :) In fact, my grandfather was very protective of those and would get annoyed when his roommate at the nursing home would steal one of his "green Cokes" because he too thought it tasted better LOL.

It is bottled locally. Coke intended to be sold in the US is bottled in the US. Coke intended to be sold in Mexico is bottled in Mexico. Coke intended to be sold in France is bottled in France. Historically, bottling has not been handled by The Coca-Cola Company but by third parties.

Yes, Coca-Cola products are bottled in many locations around the U.S.
The reason I buy the Mexican bottled Cokes (and pay a little more for them) is because they taste better!
If the U.S. based bottlers start using cane sugar again then I will by the U.S. bottled Cokes again.
It is a simple matter of customer preference. If the U.S. bottlers don't like the fact that some of us are buying the Mexican Cokes, the answer is simple: Use cane sugar and we will buy the U.S. bottled Cokes!
