Disney songs that sound similar

We have just been watching the little mermaid and realised how similar the song 'les possions' sounds to 'be our guest'. Does anyone know if this was intentional as they were both wrote by Alan Menken? And are there any other Disney songs that sound similar to other ones you've noticed?

I've noticed that too!

The story with be out guest is that it was just something menken wrote as a filler until he'd write the real song. So it might be he just stuck the standard chord progression from les poissons in.

Small world and one little spark are also very similar as are many Sherman brothers songs.

There's a lot of overlap on a micro level too - menken often uses the same ostinatos and devices from song to song. For instance listen to the end of God help the outcasts and the beginning of part of your world.

Those are just a few I can think of off the top of my head.
