One Little Spark...
Ya know...I've never tried to make funnel cakes. Hmmmmm....maybe next week!:D
Need a recipe? I love making them!

Also, while you can use a spoon to drizzle the batter, spending 15 - 20 dollars to get a real funnel cake batter dispenser is worth it. It allows you to have more control over the batter, which means you can plop it in the oil faster and at generally the same density, which makes for a more consistent finished cake.

I'd love a recipe!!! Thanks! :)

1 egg
2/3 cup milk
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cup AP flour
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp baking powder
A few grinds of fresh nutmeg
Confectioners Sugar for dusting

Step 1)
Heat oil (veggie oil works fine, but I prefer to fry in peanut oil, as it has a higher smoke point) in a deep skillet. I use a deep cast iron skillet (which is the same one I use to make fried chicken), but the key is that it should have a tall lip so the oil doesn't splatter everywhere or overflow as you drop in the dough. Temp should be roughly 350 degrees. I test it by tossing some flour in the oil, and if it sizzles without going black quickly, the oil is the right temp.

Step 2)
Combine the egg, vanilla extract and milk and beat until well mixed. In a second bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture slowly, mixing constantly until creamy...the end result should resemble something like waffle batter

Step 3)
For this I actually bought one of these:

http://www.webstaurantstore.com/7-1...campaign=PLA&gclid=CKfe9evljLcCFRCe4AodVxoAMw

I use it all the time for various things, but I initially bought it for funnel cake making with the kid. But, really, any old funnel would work. Or you could use the trick of using a plastic ziplock and snipping one corner off as the dispenser.

Anyhow, dispense the dough into the oil, being sure to make that "webbed" pattern that funnel cakes are famous for. Remove from the oil when it's lightly browned (about 2 minutes) and set on a plate with a paper towel underneath.

Step 4)
Dust with confectioners sugar and/or top with toppings (strawberries anyone?)

Step 5)
Enjoy!

Step 6)
Get on the treadmill!

Love Step 6 ;)

Seems fairly simple. I might even be able to fashion some kind of dispenser from one of my pro size frosting bags. Thanks so much!!!! Cannot wait to try it! :)

Sooo easy... all you have to do is get some fairly thick french loaf bread from your grocery store bakery, sluice them about 3 inches thick. Cut bananas into several thin short pieces. Tear out the middle of the bread and stuff the bananas inside. Replace the torn out bread. Place bread into a skillet with a decent amount t of grease or your deep fat fryer. Let remain until golden brown. Remove immediately and roll in a sugar/cinnamon mixture. Coat with smuckers strawberry syrup. Delish! I have never had it at Disney but I made it for a friend who has and she says it is pretty darn close!
