Disney settles injury lawsuit
By Pete Werner
Jun 2, 2009

According to the Associated Press, A California woman who fell off a tram at Disneyland and suffered serious injury has settled a lawsuit with Disney. The 48 year old claimed in her suit that the tram driver was speeding, which caused her to fall from the tram and hit her head. She suffered traumatic brain injury as a result of the fall, and was in a coma for three weeks. Disney disputed the claims, stating that parking lot trams can not travel more than 11mph. The settlement was reached after a two week trial on the matter was about to wrap up, just before attorney’s gave their closing arguments. Disney stated only that they were glad the matter was settled and that safety remains their top priority.

Sounds like another loser just trying to get rich. There is no way those trams can go fast enough, or would go fast enough to just knock someone out of it. She must have been standing up or something while they were making a turn. They have "no standing" and "keep your limbs inside the vehicle" signs on everything that moves, at least at WDW they do.

Pfft. Those trams are so slow. I think they've actually told the drivers to go slower in recent months.

Last week on the tram, this group (of adults) kept standing up to take pictures of their kids. The thought going through my mind was, "if they fall, they're going to sue Disney." Oy.

Hey, after the tram crash last year, I wouldn't be surprised if they told the tram drivers to go slower. What a weird day that was. TMZ even reported on it, calling MiceChat the "Disney Nerd Emporium"

Hey, that's not fair! I was on IASW once and I fell out and hit my head. It's all because the ride operator wanted to get more people on the ride so they turned the speed up and as we went round a corner, the G-Forces pushed me over the edge!!!

Disclaimer: The above may not have actually happened....

Serious note: I feel bad for the ladies injury but this just isn't right....

I think we need to stop and look at the victim's life and how it has been ruined. As to whether trams can build such speed as to take a curve so hard as to send one or even 5 guests out of the tram that is beyond my knowledge as I am not in WDW and never ride DLR trams but have never felt like I was going to go flying out of a tram.

I do not know if it is even scientifically possible for a tram to send guests flying out the sides. I don't know the facts so I will say that this apparently was not meant to happen and someone is going to be scarred for life. It is not like them grifters who almost got away with conning DLR over a incident that was alledged to have happened in the Disneyland hotels. It was accidental.
