>>After a long day exploring Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, there’s no better place for an ice cold Gold Squadron beer or a nice glass of Imperial Guard red wine than Oga’s Cantina, the wretched hive of scum and villainy at the center of the remote outer rim spaceport.

A set of trademark patents recently filed by the Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm reveal the lineup of Star Wars-themed beers, wines and cider that will be on tap at the intimate spaceport tavern when Galaxy’s Edge debuts at the Anaheim theme park.

Oga’s beer lineup will include a White Wampa wheat, Bad Motivator IPA, Gold Squadron lager and a pair of scary-sounding ales. The wine list will feature an Andoan white, Toniray teal and a pair of fierce reds.<<

Go read the rest of the article. Here is the list of the SCNG papers, you get a limit at each individual site, so plenty of choices.

No porters nor stouts I see. Not to seem critical, but I'm amused by the strain for realism that they're attempting in the land, only to assign cutsey referential drink names like "Bad Motivator IPA." Do we know who the real world brewer for these concoctions is?

By that I mean the effort put into role playing that you're in the Star Wars universe. Coke and Visa logos will break the illusion, but drinks named after specific movie based moments are fine. It's not that I'm troubled by this, I just think it makes for an amusing paradox.

I thought about it, but then, I see it in more of Alcohol being served at Disneyland for the first time (to the General Public)

Should I start posting Walt's quotes about not wanting alcohol in Disneyland? Seems time to reignite that argu... er, discussion. :p

Walt Disney is dead, times change. And he had no problems with smoking in the parks (that ironically is what killed him and not alcohol) and that is waaaay more of a cause for concern (especially for non-smokers). They finally banned that and it only took 60 years to happen. 59 years too later IMO.

DLR is inundated with alcohol now, this gesture of not having it in DL is pretty antiquated and silly if you can drink in literally every other part of the resort.

"While I'm an alcoholic who loves my Scotch Mists, I don't want that swill being sold in my theme park." - Walt Disney

For those who think there was no booze in the park, just find stories of the Mark Twain private party in early July 1955. The boat was full of invited guests, and plenty of booze was served on the actual bar that was built into the steamship. Same with the Golden Horseshoe, multiple private parties in the 1950's using the bar.

Walt's Apartment had a stocked small bar. So did the Opera House and other back stage areas.

Plenty of beer during construction, usually at the end of the workday.

Holidayland, where beer was openly sold, sometimes at an all you can drink for one price.

The Monorail expansion to the Hotel, where the Monorail Bar was about 20 steps from the ride's exit

Club 33.

In reality, Walt had no problem with guests drinking.

What he was worried about was Image. If you know the History of the park, a lot of research was done at Knott's, anything from queue design, to load/unload, etc. He was impressed on how it was run, and how liquor was not a part of it for the most part.

So in reality, the no alcohol was a Marketing policy to protect Disneyland's Family image.

A lot has changed after Walt's death, including its image from a regional locals park designed for where parents would bring their kids, and could enjoy things together, to drawing more adult groups without kids, mainly visitors.

Galaxy's Edge main focus is Teens and Adults, and the two attractions make that point. Why not serve booze. They have seen in many other parks, it hasn't hurt anything, heck even the Magic Kingdom serves it.

Why not turn the Golden Horseshoe into a bar, maybe just beer and wine. No booze allowed out the door.

Blue Bayou, etc....

Alec Guinness needs a Guinness or Dark Beer. They need to use exotic space fruit cocktails with tiny umbrella shades and alien tentacle appetizers (still alive or deep fried).

>>After waiting in line to park, board the tram, enter Disneyland and get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge the last thing you might be thinking about and the one thing may need the most is an ice cold alien cocktail at Oga’s Cantina.

Fortunately, the wretched hive of scum and villainy opens at 8 a.m. most mornings and will be serving stiff alcoholic cocktails paired with a bit of breakfast in the Anaheim theme park. You can even bring the kids into the all-ages bar that will be serving Blue Milk and cookies suitable for the young padawans.

Oga’s Cantina only has six snowboard-shaped tables, six booth seats and a standing room-only U-shaped bar. And Disneyland won’t take reservations for Oga’s. Which means the wait time to get into the intimate interstellar cocktail bar could stretch to an hour or more throughout the day.

While you might not typically imbibe at 8 a.m., you will be on Star Wars standard time while visiting Galaxy’s Edge. And it’s 5 o’clock somewhere in the galaxy far, far away. So why not drop into Oga’s and experience the highly anticipated cantina when the crowds will likely be lighter?

Oga’s will serve a pair of alcoholic “potations” cocktails before noon:

  • Bloody Rancor: A Bloody Mary made with vodka and Chile liqueur and garnished with a bone-shaped meringue cookie.
  • Spiran Caf: Peruvian organic coffee spiked with rum and served with orange marmalade, vanilla whipped cream and citrus zest<<

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere. Or in our house, noon.
