As I've said before this was in the works long before Covid was a thing. These restructurings can take months if not a whole year to conceive.

Plus Loeb doesn't have anywhere near the shareholder power Elliott Management has with AT&T.

Believe it or not, Eisner tried pushing the Disney Channel toward this in the late ‘90s/early 2000s. The Internet couldn’t support streaming at the time, but Zoog Disney was a clumsy attempt to gauge interest in an online community. He also frequently claimed Disney would move its content online as streaming became viable.

I mean it was mainly speculation on my part but I'm assuming their pay was cut because of the companies restructure and focus on streaming.
