Disney Parks Moms Panel 12 Month Visit Requirement

I just heard about this recently, and I would like to apply for the 2018 panel. I was reading the requirements, and one of the requirements stated that you have to have been to WDW at least once in the past 12 months. My last visit to WDW was in March of 2016, and I will be going to WDW at the end of October this year, and the training for the panel would start at the end of November-is it 12 months before training, 12 months before the start of 2018, or 12 months before the application date? I would like to apply, but if I am disqualified immediately due to the 12 month visit requirement, I'm wondering if I should bother.

As much as I go and as much money as I spend there, I should be the Chairman of the Disney Parks Mom Panel, even though I'm not a mom or a woman.
:hilarious: I'm neither as well-it is open to anyone who fits the requirements, not sure why they still call it a Moms panel. I'm doing it for the perks as much as anything else-5 days of training at WDW and a free WDW vacation for each new panelist and up to 3 family members. I'm sure the free vacation doesn't cover everything, and it's probably not a week long vacation, but I'd still take it. I would hope the training at WDW would leave enough time to spend a few hours at the parks each day.

There have been men on the panel before. I have applied even though I am not a mom, but I was hoping to go for the loving auntie angle. No luck though with Disney (I'm an awesome auntie!).

If you are just doing it for a potential free trip then you are doing it for the wrong reasons :/
Please read my post again-the extras involved in being on the panel are just as tempting for me as being able to answer questions and help people who need answers. I didn't say they were the only reason, or that they were more important than fulfilling the duties of a panellist. If anyone that has applied to be on the panel says that a free trip doesn't mean anything to them, they are most likely fooling themselves. Besides, what better way to learn more about WDW than to take a trip there that you might not otherwise have taken? And, even if there was no freebies involved, I would still apply.

I looked at it (and even applied for it back during it's first year). Honestly, I don't think I would want to be on it now. Have you ever read any of the responses they give? They are so much a corporate shill for WDW it is insane.

Ask something like "Is the DDP a good value" and you will get an answer like.

"I know you are going to love the awesome tasty food at WDW. When we go we are always amazed by the level of service in the WDW restaruants. It is just an other way to add to the magic of the park. The DDP is priced at $XX per day per person. It lets you get a tasty snack, a yummy quick service meal (With dessert! woo-hoo) and then an awesome sit down dinner (woth more dessert - drool) at one of WDW's amazing resaruants - EACH DAY!. I gain weight just thinking about it :). It's an awesome value and it is great because you don't even have to think about money for food when you are at the parks, it's all paid for ahead of time.Have a great time eating your way around WDW, I am sooooo jealous.

Compare that to the honest answers (and variety of opinions) you will get from a site such as these boards. I honestly would have a problem writing garbage like the above to people who are actually looking for advice.

So, I'm assuming if you are honest and don't necessarily toe the company line, you won't last too long? I've seen some answers on there that were not correct at all-if you're going to be answering questions like this, you better know what you're talking about.

I think it is more along the lines of facts only, no opinons. They offer very little that cannot be found elsewhere with minimal effort. People on sites such as this one will give advice based on their experieces and opinions. If you asked for something like "what is the best place to watch Illuminations from" you would get a variety of opinions - most with some reasoning behind them. You would also get some comments about getting a table at R&C, and the "hidden" tables behind the Fish and Chip shop, and possible some advice about other "hidden" spots.

At the Mom's Panel, you would most likely be told that "excellent viewing spots are avalable all around the world showcase" with no opinions about which ones are the best.

Me, too! I've seen them post all sorts of incorrect things (mentioning room categories that don't exist, promising that in addition to Pack 'n Plays, you can get cots on request at certain resorts, etc.) -- I wouldn't trust the Disney Mom's panel to make a peanut butter sandwich, let alone help plan my Disney vacation. ;) When I want information that's up-to-date, I come here.

If you feel you are a woman, apply as one. If you are not picked sue for discrimination. After all gender is fluid.

The peanut butter sandwich thing made me spit my drink out!
