Any Disney on Broadway fans? My love for theatre, and make it Disney on top of that, I'm totally there! Current Shows in New York and Touring Nationwide include Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King (and some of you might have seen Disney's On the Record perhaps? other shows include London's (and possibly within the next three years on Broadway) Mary Poppins There is also a German production of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame (which is a great stage show btw) called Der Glockner von Notre Dame, and has recieved many rave reviews. Broadway talks about an American version of the show have so far been not likely. HOWEVER, with the closing of Tim Rice's and Elton John's AIDA this past year, Disney isn't leaving the Broadway market anytime soon. A recently confirmed production of TARZAN is underway and will be on Broadway Spring 2006. Also, a lot of speculation is that not far behind it will be The Little Mermaid on Broadway, which has already tested several workshops in New York, but you'll have to wait till after TARAZAN for that one!

I saw Lion King and Beauty and The Beast in London. Loved Lion King, found Beast a little too long and it felt like it was adapted by someone that had heard about British Pantomime but has never actually seen one.

Saw Mary Poppins in Bristol - a good adaption of the film, but brought nothing new to stage craft.

I got to see Beauty and the Beast before it ever went to Broadway- we got the premeire :) It was very good, but not one of the best musicals I have ever seen honestly...

Vernon and I just got back from seeing the road company of the Broadway Lion King production. What can I say? It was breathtaking. The beauty of several of the scenes, including the opening scene, the "Shadowland" song, and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" actually moved me to tears. I expected the show to be good, but it exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. If the tour comes to a city near you, SEE IT!!!! I've seen many Broadway productions, and this one ranks near the top.
