Disney Nominated for 2003 LIMA Awards
NEW YORK (Press Release) -- Recognizing the best and the brightest in the licensing industry, the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association (LIMA) has announced the nominees for the 2003 LIMA International Licensing Excellence Awards. The awards will be presented in eight categories at the industry's most prestigious event, the annual LIMA Awards Gala, on June 11, at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers.
The awards program includes eight major categories, honoring licenses from the worlds of Art, Character, Corporate, Entertainment, Sports/Special Events, Retailer, Promotions and International, as well as the Overall Best License of the Year. In addition to recognizing the Best Property of the year within each category, awards will be presented for the Best Licensee Hard Goods and Best Licensee Soft Goods. In keeping with the increasing impact of the global licensing business, LIMA will present awards for the International License of the Year and the International Licensing Agency of the Year.
"With the focus on the key licensing categories, the annual International Licensing Excellence Awards truly represent the strength and diversity of the multi-billion dollar worldwide licensing industry," notes Charles Riotto, president of LIMA. "The Awards demonstrate the importance of licensing and the impact it has in today's marketplace."
"Each year, the marketing of licensed goods increases retail sales, therefore creating the challenge to select the very best nominees in each category," says Carole Francesca, Awards Committee chair and president of Broad Street Licensing Group. "The increased competition makes the International Awards For Excellence even more desirable and prestigious."
Nominations were solicited from the entire licensing industry based on a list of categories and criteria, which ultimately determine the industry's tribute to its best and brightest. Winners will be chosen by the LIMA membership.
