Music has the power to create a vivid mental link to a place, sensation, and such. So, seeing as how Disney is the king of creating worlds.. Which Disney music takes you back? What do you "see?"

For me...

Everytime I hear the Spectromagic theme...

I envision working my way through a crowded park, the darkened faceless people around me, everything is cold and damp because of a light misting rain which is falling. A chill goes through my body and amid the darkness are sparkling lights in a odd menagerie. It's magical but in a surreal sense...

Whenever I listen to the Tapestry of NATIONS (as it will always be the T.O.N. in my opinion) music, I picture Walking out of Maelstrom to the music blaring, and the sequence when the lights go out, and the 20 foot tall puppets hug, and the "disco ball" is the only thing around casting light. I'll never forget that as long as i live.

Whenever I hear the Spectromagic theme, I remember the time I was in the Emporium and heard Ariel singing... I had seen the parade countless times before and never remember her having such a pretty voice... since then, I've been trying to get that on mp3 or cd

Also, on the "0fficial album" millenium celebration edition (not the one with roe, ton, we go on, etc..) -- the one with the blue cover--the version of celebrate the future hand in hand on that cd reminds me of leaving..... i cant remember it for the life of me... maybe millenium central ::shoot!:: (with all of countries not represented in WS) and the song was playing at the exit right before i was amazed by roe for the first time :)

My favorite has to be the Finale from "Fantasmic!" It sends a shiver down my spine every time I hear it. Even though I have only seen it once I can still visualise what was happening along with the music (I have a great visual memory.)

I also feel the same way as Rob about Spectromagic - I remember the time earlier this year when I was on my Backstage Magic tour and we were in the shed @ MK when they were testing the music ready for that evenings performance :)

Disney music like that tends to make me sad because I really wish I was back there seeing the associated shows for real!

Mine would be the Haunted Mansion theme. From the official album, the opening organ playing just reminds me of walking to my doombuggy amidst the dark corridor. It remains my favorite classic disney attraction. I hope the upcoming changes don't ruin it.

I agree...the end of Fantasmic always gives me goose bumps too...from the point where all the characters come out on the steamboat to the end.

Also, the music for Illuminations, in particular the end of the first long piece of music and the entire second song.

When I here When you Wish apon a Star( I know it's overly played but I love it) it makes me remember walking down main st. with the castle in the distance and the smell of popcorn and the voices of children and adults laughing and having a GREAT time!

I have two actually. The first is Illuminations. Everytime I hear the music, it brings a smile to my face. It was so great to hear ABC use it in some of their election and millennium broadcasts. Also, when the DCI group Cadets of Bergen County used the music for their show, I was jumping for joy!

The other is the fanfare for Spectromagic (like the very beginning and what they use in the pre-parade announcments). Whenever I hear that part, it'll always bring back memories from when my band was down there my junior year of high school. We were leaving MK just before the parade, and as we were about to go under the train station, the music came blaring on, we made our dramatic exit.

How about the drums at the beginning of the Illuminations music. They start out slowly...boom...........boom............boom.....,then they speed up...boom....boom...boom..., then my heart starts pounding just knowing that any second the comet will be launched into the night sky! LOVE IT!

The pavillion was called the Millenium Village and it still exists as a "convention" area behind the lovely brown wall.

For me, any Disney Music makes me go nuts, but of course I know my big four (Spectromagic, Illuminations, TON, and Fantasmic) by heart and hum, tap, and sing with them while watching. I love Illuminations so much, I even know when each type of firework and light or water effect will occur. I am still amazed at the show, expecially as the "globe" plays the history of earth from creation through today. I am also amazed at the timing of the fireworks.

On a side note, how many of you notice that the images they show on the "globe" during the We Go On segment are all from TON?

RoE hit many chords (no pun intended :D) with me. My wife & I share some very personal experiences that involved that music, o I always get a tear in my eye. Plus, the score in just so powerful, that you can't help but love it.

Almost equally, when I hear the music from Main Street USA, I am instantly transported to the Town Square, looking down Main Street and staring, in awe, at the Castle, at the time that I realized that I'm a 4-year-old trapped in a 26 year-old's body who would wish for nothing more but for that moment to go on forever.

Listening to ANY music from the park is such a bittersweet experience. It makes me smile ear to ear just imagining the MAGIC and everything associated with it. On the other hand, there's always that realization that (especially when the music ends) I am not there, immersed in the MAGIC, I'm only at home or in the car getting that next fix to keep me going until I can go back again.
