Wow, Enchanted three times over for Best Original Song (So Close, Happy Working Song and That's How You Know). I also think Rattatoulie is a big contender for best score--it was terrific--not to mention Best Animated Motion Picture. Likewise with Pirates' visual effects.

Congratulations and good luck to all of these films, I still think Enchanted deserves to be voted for so many more things, it was uniquely incredible.

Ratatoille has a big challenge at winning this award...I believe it should, but Perseopolis was loved by many critics and is a bit more original in terms of storytelling and delivery of the story so I'm not so sure that Pixar is gonna get this award. I loved Ratatoille, but when you compare it with Perseopolis it's really just standard fare for an animated feature whereas it's competition is not. Surfs Up though had the most beautiful CG oceans I've ever seen.

As for special effects, I wasn't that impressed with Pirates. When I watch a lot of movies I'm starting to think...I've seen this before. Golden Compass seems like a rip-off of Narnia which for me was a rip-off of Lord of the Rings (theatrically...not storywise) - they all seem to entail large grand scale backgrounds that are as much a thing of beauty as the some of the CG animation itself)

I thought Transformers (a highly anticipated film for myself) was overshadowed by the crappiness of the movie itself. The CG in general terms was really good, but this movie just really turned me off and I could not wait for it to be over and the CG just didn't really scream at me and tell me it was the best I've seen.

Pirates just didn't do it for me especially with the visual effects. It lacked a lot for me and I don't honestly know what to say about it...I was almost as dissapointed with it as I was with Transformers, but luckily it wasn't as bad...I don't rank it as a good movie either though.

None of these movies honestly knocked my socks off visually...I think this is probably the most boring year in visual effects that I've seen since Episode 1 for Star Wars and the Matrix came out (note: do not look at the Matrix sfx now...they are horrible)

^really? I thought the pirates effects were amazing. And it will most likely win the oscar.

I'm just dissapointed that once again Pirates was snubbed for best score. I don't get it. The pirates 3 score was arguably the best score of the year and they just ignored it.
