Disney Movie Club - anyone a member?

Thinking about signing up for the Disney movie club. I was about to add "Up" to my blu-ray collection and saw it was priced at $36.99 locally so I checked at online prices to see if I could get it cheaper (with shipping). I looked at the Disney Movie club and the selection and relized that I could get some decent blu-rays and save a crapload of money.

The catch of course is the obligation to purchase more at regular price later.

I looked at a few titles and priced them out and found that for about $30 total I can get:
  • Dumbo
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Up
  • Chimpanzee
  • Pixar Shorts vol 1
  • The Aristocats
  • The Great Mouse Detective
I had none of these ones on blu-ray - only on dvd (and some as VHS) so it seems like a pretty great deal even if I have to purchase a few more at regular price later. They do also have some Marvel choices there - I saw the Avengers, and more than just animated ones but I am building up my blu-ray collection of the Disney classics and some favourites so it seems like a good way to do it.

Anyone else a member? Have you found the regular prices to be fairly reasonable. Are you happy with the service? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I recently filled out my submission fourm (like 3 days ago) but it seems like a good deal and the fact that I will drop out once I reach my obligation is great! Also, I'll get a crapload of disney movie rewards points! The movies I selected are:
-Chimpanzee
-Hercules
-nightmare before Christmas

I forget the other three, so it will be a surprise when I get them!

I did this a couple time when my kids where little...GREAT DEAL!! Just remember the way they make money with this is to keep you buying until long after you purchase the required DVDs... :)

Just joined a couple of days ago @I_heart_Tigger and ended up getting a REALLY sweet deal. Was on a Blu-ray forum the other day and somebody posted a code where if you joined DMC with it, you ended up getting 5 blu-ray titles for $1, another one for $11 and a seventh one for $8 - so like $21 total. The best part is you only have to order 2 more at regular price ($29+) in the next 2 years to be done. Most of the people on there were rejoining over and over to get in on the deal. Somebody also posted a spreadsheet with all of their available titles with their codes so that you could order more than just the ones they show on their signup page.

I ended up getting a pretty good selection myself! :)

My dad is a member. We used it to build our DVD collection with some older favorites such as Swiss Family Robinson and The Parent Trap, but have not used the service for several years. We find now it's cheaper to get the movies on the release date as stores such as Target do sales on the Blue Rays on the release date. But it's useful if you're looking to build your movie collection.

Blu-ray.com thread, right? I just finished signing up after reading that thread over the last week or two. Seems like a pretty good deal!

Yep - that was it. Signed up and became a member over there and have been frequenting that forum as much as this one the past week. :D

Really glad I saw that thread on there though because I was able to use a code and join the American DMC (even though I live in Canada) and get a way better deal than the one they offer us Canadians. Got 1 or 2 more movies for $10-15 cheaper and a smaller commitment (2) left after my initial purchase. I can definitely see fulfilling my commitment quickly and rejoining again to capitalize on that sweet deal and to build up my Disney blu-ray collection.
