Its not impossible but I think there would be a lot of hurdles like government approvals and the cost on top of the cost of fox.

I remember reading way back when Michael Eisner looked into a Disney / Warner merger. I can’t remember how far it got of it was before or after ABC

There is no way the Feds would allow Disney to buy Warner Discovery. The would be a clear violation of the Antitrust laws. Disney would be allowed to buy a few foreign studios but that is it. They should actually buy one or two in Europe, one in South Korea, and one in Japan. Disney needs more movies and shows for their streaming services, movie theaters, tv stations and cable stations.

They need to go through to buy Warner/Discovery as possible. I think Disney could do this.

What would be the benefit?

Disney already have a back catalog of content that it isn't even using yet in Fox. Adding Warner/Discovery on top of that wouldn't make sense. Plus as others have mentioned it would be a regulatory nightmare to get it approved. Heck even the original TimeWarner/AT&T merger barely made it through.

Apple would make more sense as a purchaser of Warner/Discovery as they have no back catalog of content and wouldn't have much regulatory problems. Especially since Amazon just got MGM, so Apple would want to add to their content with the Warner catalog in order to compete.

Basically I see no reason why Disney should, and many reasons why they can't, purchase Warner/Discovery in the future.

I think Apple will be best but I think Disney could beat Apple in into the skies as if this is impossible.

Apple has deeper pockets.

Point is that it doesn't make sense for Disney to even try. The article you posted doesn't even say Disney is interested, just that they "could" be a purchaser, so its all speculation.

Honestly I would be highly surprised if Disney put in an offer, meaning they probably won't.

Apple makes sense if they actually want to make Apple TV a viable major streamer (as opposed to just dabbling like they currently are using it as a bonus for their devices). I’m not really sure Apple wants to take that plunge.

I actually think Netflix should buy WB/Discovery. Do they have the money? Having an owned big back catalogue instead of having to lease programming - which is becoming tougher with all the studios having their own streamers - to compliment their original programming would help them to stay on top.

Apple TV+ I gotta admit is lean, but high quality. What they lack in back catalogue they are hitting with originals.

I think Severance just had one of the best finales I've seen in years. Warner would be an ok fit as they already seem to be going down that HBO-type vibe.

It's offically now as Warner Bros. Discovery now. Now it needs to be brought by Disney (possible more likely), Apple or Amazon in near future. So what you'll think about it now guys?

Discovery taking control of WB was never in doubt.

What is in doubt is:

1. That they are for sale and will be bought by another company.

and

2. That Disney will be:

a. Interested in purchasing them.

and

b. That any merger between the two would be approved by regulators.

There is too many "ifs" in that equation for anyone to be able to provide you an answer on what will happen.

However it appears the overwhelming opinion based on your poll is that "No" Disney will not buy Warner Bros. Discovery.

There still could be possible that Disney may interested to buy Warner Discovery as may be possible but I don't know if Apple or Amazon could buy it or not. Disney is gonna steal that again like last time in 2016 when Disney tries to buy Warner Bros. but instead they went to buy 20th Century Studios instead. I wonder why Disney could've buy Warner Bros instead 20th Century Fox?

I think the piece that you keep missing, regulators is likely to prevent it. Meaning the US Government would block the merger as it would cause Disney to have too much control. Disney as it is already controls a huge amount of the films released to theaters, adding WB to that would cause them to have over 50% and that is something regulators won't allow.

So yeah its pretty much going to be a No for Disney buying WB Discovery.

As for Apple and Amazon they can and have enough money to buy WB Discovery. So there are your two likely suitors for WB Discovery.

Just wait until months as if Apple, Disney or Amazon could buy WB Discovery. But I don't care about between regulators or US Government to prevent Disney to buy it. Disney MAY be biggest option to choose to buy it.

Two of WB’s biggest IPs are DC comics and animated characters (Scooby Doo, Looney Toons) which are IPs that really aren’t needed by Disney. Discovery is the closest thing to a competitor for National Geo. I just don’t see how it would make sense for Disney to purchase this company.

I assume you don't know the business world very much given this comment.

The US Government are the regulators, they are the same thing, and they determine if the sale of one public company to another can happen in the US. The fact the US Government would likely block the sale of WB Discovery to Disney is the exact reason why Disney would likely not try to buy WB Discovery in the first place.

So while I appreciate your apparent enthusiasm for this topic, and while I won't say never, its clear its likely not going to happen at least not with Disney. Also your timeline of a couple months is also a bit too quick in my opinion. If anything in my opinion I wouldn't see anyone buying WB Discovery for at least a couple years.
