Disney Margaritas - Recipe Request

I've had many margaritas at various locations throughout Disney (Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, Coronado Springs, Mexico, Grand Californian, etc.) and they are by far the best margaritas I have ever had. They all taste the exact same (same flavor of course) so I'm assuming they have one recipe across all Disney locations.

Does anyone have this recipe? I've searched everywhere I can't find any traces of this recipe. I can't duplicate the taste with any recipe I've found so far, and I'm dying for a Disney margarita.

Please help!!!

Unfortunately the recipes vary at most locations based on what tier each bar is. However I can suggest that you look into using sauza tequila, as many of the locations do. My preference is sauza tres generaciones blanco.

Check out the "Recipe???" thread in the Chit Chat board. If there aren't any in there, put the request up, tigsmom may be able to help you!

I've been looking already! I haven't found any online. You may have to put in a call to your favorite spot and ask if they will share the recipe. You could contact Ask Heather in the Orlando Sentinal, she has great success with getting recipes.

And the Recipe?? thread can be found here.

San Angel Inn has great margaritas... but that restaurant is not owned by Disney... they do operat the Maya Grill though... and perhaps the bar at Coronado... I dunno...

I'll be down there in the next month and I can ask my servers at San Angel Inn for the recipe for the margaritas if you wish...

I LOVE THEM too...

Mystery solved!

I contacted WDW customer support who responded with the following recipe.

"Here is the Disney Standard Recipe for WDW Resorts (Disneyland may be different). The variations can be the type of tequila used (most likely Sauza Gold) and the sour mix (there are 3 different types used across property).

Margarita
Preparation: Rim glass with salt. Build in shaker, shake, & pour over ice in glass.
Garnish: Lime Wedge
Well Tequila 1.25 oz
Bols Triple Sec 0.75 oz
Lime Juice 0.5 oz
Sweet and Sour Mix 3 oz"

I tried "Finest Call" brand sour mix and the recipe tasted nearly identical. I'll keep testing different mixes to see if I can perfect the recipe but it is 95% there.

I'm not sure that this is 100% correct, as there is a difference between sour mix and 'sweet and sour' mix. Sweet and sour mix will be a mixture of sour mix and simple syrup, where as sour mix has no simple syrup. I'll find out which is used after I get back from Vero next week.
