Disney Mag - Opening of Epcot Pictures

If anyone reads the Disney Magazine, they have an article about Epcots opening with lots of pictures. I vividly remember being there in 1983 with the 'space' costumes of all the characters and the robot thing. Anyone remember anything else about 'old' Epcot? I can't believe it opened that long ago.. Alot has changed since then.. some for better (Test Track!!) and some for worse (Losing Horizons and World of motion ;( )

In My opinion, Epcot isnt a very old park! Its hard to believe, but it is only 20 years old. Especially for a park based on the "future", and how much it has changed in 20 years. Disneyland and MK never changed as much as Epcot (Future World) has in all of the years they have been open. Just think how different the place will look in the next 20 years...
...Mission: Space might be out of date by then!

The silver suit Goffy is wearing in the pic...are those the suits you were refering to? Not alot of people remember them. I had one with Mickey too somwhere, his had a rainbow on the front lol.

Those jumbo headed characters from America on Parade were creepy. I'm glad they're gone.

Old School Epcot used to have the omnibuses that transported you around would showcase. I miss those.

I remember the "space" suits for the characters! We have some old family pics and videos of us with them.

I remember those outfits also. I also remember Astuter Computer Revue. It was my favorite!!! Of course, the video terminals for PS were a lot of fun.

I feel so old now. I essentially grew up with Epcot. My first visit there, I was in the womb (early '83). Then I went at least two or three times a year, each year thereafter.
Now it's 20...i'm going off to college in a week(well, 10 minutes away to the local community college, but still).

I MISS OLD SCHOOL EPCOT! I miss Kitchen Kaberet and Horizons!
I miss WOM and the old school Illuminations! Waaaahhhh!
I just pray that Disney NEVER changes Spaceship Earth. A rehab here and there is fine, but they'd better not completley change it. I mean, I dealt with losing Walter Cronkites narration, and I'm fine about those new warning screens..but if they pull a Journey Into Imagination, or a World of Motion on us..or worse, a Horizons...I will NOT be a happy camper!
