Hi everyone, I am in the middle of redoing my classroom and I would love some ideas adding more Disney to the room. If you could post a picture of your classroom that would be great!

I don't have a picture of my classroom, but being a middle school & high school teacher my Disney touches are subtle. A few of the Disney things I have like ornaments, pictures, and a clock were given to me by students. A few kids have drawn me pictures of Disney characters so I have them tacked up. I also have a set of prayer flags that I got from Animal Kingdom and a giant stuffed Mickey that I got at a garage sale.

Walt Disney quotes are nice to have around in the "Disney" font. When having an animal theme, you could use things from Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Phrases from Disney movies such as Hakuna Matata and Just Keep Swimming are always nice too.:)

Pinterest is always a great way for finding ideas for situations like this!

Wow! Things have changed. The last year I taught kindergarten, the district's libraries' manager came to every school and made us remove anything Disney related that we had made. I can't tell you the hours I had spent working on these projects. It was something about Disney enforcing copyright regulations.
I think they were going overboard because of some related court case.
Of course in those days, you couldn't buy Disney items on any corner.

It's definitely changed! My family owns a touring theatre company.. We produce shows in public schools between SC, NC, LA, and FL... and I guarantee you, there is always SOMEthing Disney-related hanging on the walls of cafeterias or classrooms or hallways in almost every school!

I don't decorate my room with Disney Theme, but I do hang a Felt Mickey Birthday Banner out on the students' locker when it's their birthday. It came from the Disney Floral Dept. My students love to see the banner hanging on a locker on someone's birthday. I teach at a K-2 bldg.

It drives me a bit nuts that the local Lakeshore has a poster of "If you can dream it, you can do it" poster attributing it to Walt Disney.

It's thenature of intellectual property protection, more specifically trademark protections. The owner risks losing their rights if they do not enforce proper use. It's the same reason Google sends cease and desist notices to publications that use Google as a verb.

Just because something is being used has no bearing on whether or not it is not an infringing use.

I'll take some pictures of my room Monday. After 20 years at a middle school, I voluntary moved up to the high school (and love it!). I have Disney everywhere (whether generic park maps in French or Epcot France stuff - since I teach French). [My students even got me Mickey & Minnie Christmas plates last year & they all signed a Mickey Christmas card for me.]
Actually, the cool thing is, due to my contact with a primate-specialist at Disney's Animal Kingdom from our Wild Africa Trek last summer, we're collecting money and/or recyclying cell phones to save the mountain gorillas in the French Congo for Earth Day this year. Disney is a part of GRACE. Awesome stuff. I'll let you know how it goes.
I do have the best students on the planet...:) LOVE my job!!

If you like, Walt Disney Elementary School in Tullytown, PA, just celebrated their 60th anniversary. Any website covering it (it was on my local news program) should have a picture or two of some of the classrooms.

I had the Paris metro map up there, too, but it magically walked away this summer...The Little Prince took its place for now. 18 weeks until I can get a new one!
