Disney In Las Vegas

Hey everyone, I was sitting in class a few days ago, and well I started thinking about Las Vegas, and naturaly from there I went to disney, and starting thinking that thats the one place that Disney hasn't taped into when it would be a cash cow for them. Las Vegas is for families but at the same time very much adult. (alot adult) but with hotles like Circus Circus and Mandalay Bay. theres still alot for familes to do. So I started to think about what would Disney Do if they went to Vegas. So here is what I got.

Naturaly I thought about the themeing of the Fairy Tale castles that are iconic in any Magic Kingdom Park. And I know there's the Excalibur Hotle right now, but have you seen it lately? it looks so out dated inbetween New Yourk New York and the Luxoir on eather side of it. So basicly thats where my idea starts. Disney buys the Excalibur, implodes it and rebuilds a new castle/fairy tale style mega hotle in its place. Which is very common in the world of Vegas, i.e. the stratapher and Alladien hotels.

So now Imgaine right there on the famous strip, a Disney style castle, that has the fairy tale style of the Castle from Paris, and yet the classicness of the castle from Disneyland. and infront of the castle is a moat where the charactors have a water parade each day, and turns into the Main Street Electical Parade on water at night. Surounding the castle is two towers (like they way the Excalubur is now) where the rooms are.

Also at night the castle is Iluminated with lights and projections that make the castle shimmer with... well Pixi dust I guess:lookaroun.

So thats the basic discription I got so far of what it would look like. right now my ideas are black and white cause I dont know what color the castle should be... White might be too bright in the hot Navada sun, but Pink might not be user friendly eather. Im thinking that some stone grey would be nice to see. but thats about it so far.

In Vegas there are some standerds for a Hotle that, well, We all must obide by. thoughts include:

-Casino
-Broadway Style theater
-Shops
-Spa
-Some sort of Kid Place
-Water Park
-Restaurants
-Buffet
-Food Court

Heres what I got cooking in my head right now. For a Broadway style theater, I've looked around at diffenrent theaters around the strip and the basic capacity for a broadway stlye is 1,200 Seats. very doable, I think. As for what whould be housed there. Well the Disney Boradway family. and I would start with Aida at opening because, It really just has a Vegas feel to it and, if were going to vegas we need a diva and theres no bigger diva then Arimisis, the princess of that play.

For shops, all I got right now is a massive world of disney store. like the one in downtown disney.

for the Spa, I'd like to theme it to the Disney Princesses, but modernized and call it Spa Diva.

No clue for a kids place, but there should be some sort of Day Care place so the parents can get a nice night out on the town while their there, and not have to worry about the kids.

Water Park, were talking something big like Mandalay Bay's Water Park. for the theme I would love to say Pirate's of the Carrabeian, but well there's Treasure Island right down the street so thats out of the question.

And Well the food is a given but there's just way too many options to run with, that I have no clue where to begin.

As for the Rooms. I have thought about this, and I know that this place may seem like its geared to the family crowd, but come on there's Disney Fans of all ages. and speacking from expericance, kids can be noisy and like to run up and down the halls of a hotel (yes I was one of them at one point in time, although I favored jumping on the bed more) So I was thinking that in a hotel of a Vegas size why cant there be a few floors that are children free? Where there is an Age Restriction so that guest who want the Disney stlye servies but the adult nature of other vegas hotles can get it? That way theres something for everyone.

So thats what I got so far. I'd love to hear anyones ideas for this masive complex. things Im forgetting, or ideas on anything. this is vegas big is not an outragous idea.

hmmmmm

I will agree that Vegas could be a cash cow for the Disney Co. but I don't think that it's a place that Walt would have approved of. I've heard rumors on various sites talking about Disney looking to do something in Vegas but I still think we won't see anything there unless the Disney Co needs the money really bad. Right now i think they're fine plus Disneyland is only 6 hours away from there. If they ever do make there way to Vegas I don't ever see them building a fairytale castle on the main strip....thats soooo tacky and it would look tacky aswell. It would degrade the castles in the parks. Maybe if it was off the strip in its own location...off the narrow path. The only way I could see something coming to Vegas is that if the Disney Co pulls a Walt and chargea alot of money and then they put that money back into making the other parks bigger and better. Very much like what Walt did with the worlds fair. Who knows though. The next thing we can plan on coming from Disney is some upgrades and new attraction at the US parks aswell as Disneyland Paris. We can look forward to Disneyland Hong Kong's phase 2 aswell as there Magic Kingdom being upgraded. Then maybe Disneyland Australia or Brazil.....who knows but as for the states I don't think any new parks soon even if it is Vegas.

Its funny you brought this up. I just got back from Disney and while I was there a friend who was with me said our next trip should be Las Vegas. Naturaly I told him if it doesnt have a Disney, I dont go there for vaca!!! Then we got to talking about why there isnt a Disney Resort and Casino in Vegas. I think that it would do very very well!!! I actually wouldnt be suprised if they have kicked that idea around some....who knows, maybe we can expect it in the future!!

I for one would hate to see this happen. We took the kids on a tour of the west a couple of years ago, starting in LV, and I was truly embarrased as a parent there. I couldn't wait to get my kids out of there!
