Disney In-House Legal Counsel

If anyone has the contact information for any of the Walt Disney Company's in-house counsel, could you please private message me? I know there are plenty of folks who read these boards who are in some way affiliated with, or know someone who is affiliated with, the Walt Disney Company, so I thought this might be a shot.

(In case it's a concern, I am not soliciting this information for the purposes of any fan-based discussion or to discuss any pending matters).

Thanks.

If you have access to Lexus-Nexus, do a legal search for WDW. There are addresses/contact info on legal filings in all the court cases.

You might also want to do a legal Disney Google search. If someone was recently hired or fired on that team there should be a press release mentioning names and possibly a phone number.

I do have Lexis, but the problem with that is that I'm not sure whether Disney uses in-house counsel for litigation, or whether they "outsource" it to boutique or specialty firms. I'll give that a whirl, though.

Thanks, everyone

^ They're self insured, so the claims unit is in house. I'd imagine the legal team is as well.

They definitely have an in-house legal team, the question is whether that legal team handles litigation. Many big companies use outside firms that specialize in the particular matter for litigation. I doubt that the in-house team handles much, if any, litigation.

^ And some actually do. ;)

I'm interested to find out if they do their own work. In my former life I was a liability claims adjuster, and almost applied for a job for them. Until I decided adjusting claims stinks, no matter who it's for!

While most big corporations have their own legal departments, those departments never handle litigation matters. Legal departments generally offer basic legal advice, review contracts, draft simple contracts, handle internal legal matters, etc.; but ALL litigation is outsourced to law firms. There are several reasons. There may be an ethics concern about it as well. However, the in-house counsel is responsible for overseeing the work product of the outsourced attorneys...and generally will work close and assist with writing briefs, research, etc. I have considered applying for a job with Disney's legal department. Unfortunately it is based in Burbank, and I don't want to live in California. I hate Florida, but I would rather be close to Disney World as opposed to Disneyland.

I forgot about ethics issues.

I miss the legal side of the insurance business, dealing with defense council, etc., but not the claims side. Yuck. :hurl:

A dear friend of mine was in the legal department for Walt Disney Television for several years. All she ever talked about was reviewing conracts, never being in court for litigation. But it's been a while and it was for television, not related to the parks.
