Disney in DC

It's been over two years since Disney announced purchasing a significant amount of land at the new National Harbor site on the Potomac river just south of Washington DC.

I haven't seen or heard anything about this since. Has any one heard anything / seen any speculation about what this resort (assuming it will be just a resort) will be like?

With the economy being the way it is and a ton of points available for sale between SSR, BLT, AKV, and Aulani there is no reason for them to build something like that right now.

The property is nothing more than a real estate investment at this point.

I think that they are going to wait and see how well Aulani sales. If it does well they will then move to Washington DC. If sales are slow, Disney may sell off it holdings in DC area and move on.

Very valid points regarding the economy and the Hawaii site.

No one wants to dig into Disney lore and speculate about something other than just a hotel? Many years ago they wanted to build a park in this area, they have engaged several studies since then about the success of a Mid-Atlantic area park.

The plot is only 15 acres. Wouldn't be much of a park.

I hope that decide to make a DVC there at some point. Would be a nice area that's in driving distance from Connecticut.
