Hi All,
I have been a long time reader and just recent poster. I don't particularly like the situation that I am in, but really feel that I have little recourse. Here is my Disney experience to date:
About a 15 months ago, a group of my friends and family decided to book at trip to WDW in March of 2012. Since I was off work following surgery, I was "volunt-eared" to organize the trip. We ended up being a group of 33, which translated into 11 rooms. We would be staying 6 nights at a WDW resort. We were so excited!!
Through this process, I have grown very sad and disappointed. Each time Disney generates a document - contract, estimated bill, etc, it is riddled with errors. Every time I point out the errors, I am reassured that the errors will end and that more attention will be paid to my account. Sadly, this has not happened. In the month of December alone, an estimated bill was re-written 6 times to correct mathematical errors, accommodation errors, ticket count errors, etc. I have already spoken to the Group Manager's boss, the Director, and she assured me she would go over everything that came to me, but this did not happen. Last night I got the latest documents required to organize a private breakfast for our group with Mickey Mouse - and the documents were for a WHOLE OTHER ORGANIZATION as well as including 10 errors!! Needless to say, now I have serious concerns about my privacy being breached if another organization's privacy was breached, let alone the ability to generate an accurate document which has serious financial and organizational ramifications.
Disney has tried to make "amends" for my time spent - I am not being paid to organize this, nor am I part of an organized group. As I said, it is just my family and other families that we know in our community. To date, we have been bumped up a resort level and Disney has had to honour one of their mathematical under calculations.
I have told the group manager and director that the only thing I really care about is the level of service - if I could "trust" Disney to be on the ball, or simply display competency in the jobs they are being paid to do, I wouldn't have to worry so much. The majority of our group are first timers and although I am committed to making this a "magical" experience for them, I am sad that Disney is SO committed to disinterest and sloppy work.
I am now waiting to hear from the Director's boss about this very frustrating situation. I honestly think this will be my last trip to WDW because I normally have to policy to not spend money with organizations who are so disrespectful to my earning it.:brick:
Thankfully over this last 15 months, there have been good news stories on here that show me Disney has the ability and awareness to relate to the client experience. The story about the Princess / Pirate room not being ready and that family getting bumped up to AKL at Disney's suggestion allows me to be hopeful. Sadly, this has not been my experience.
I post this today, the same day that Pres. Obama is talking about boosting tourism, being open for business for groups to visit attractions in the USA. I sure hope that the staff at WDW are listening just as much as the rest of the country.
On a side note, I did check into rates at my local CAA - they were the same for group tickets and cheaper in room only rate (the only way you can book things as a group). Disney had to begrudgingly honour that rate. CAA would have also honoured the One More Disney Day offer as well as the MYW coupon offer, which Disney refuses to do. Lesson learned, but sadly too late as many in our group booked ADRs 180 + 10 days in advance under our current reservation numbers and those ADRs would become void if I cancelled at this time.
