Found Disney Fireworks Shell Prompts Investigation

Disney has reportedly launched a formal investigation this week after a company fireworks shell was discovered miles away from theme park property, according to Local 6 News.

Officials said someone found the shell at the East Orange County landfill off Young Pine Road. Law enforcement and Disney now want to know how the shell ended up at the landfill.

Disney officials told Local 6 News that they are very concerned because of the tight control they have on their fireworks.

Officials said they work closely with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives to make sure all regulations are followed.

They said a fireworks security breach is highly unusual.

Hmmm...that's really weird. It's not like someone can just walk out of the turnstiles with a firework shell under their shirt. Sounds like an inside job, doesn't it? Maybe a Disney firework employee is secretely working for Universal or another theme park company.

Firework espionage...it's a tough business :lookaroun

But why would someone go to the trouble of stealing a firework, then throw it away?

Excellent point. Maybe whoever stole it found themselves being chased by Pluto and Goofy. They are dogs after all. :lookaroun

Theory:

Someone stole the shell (and perhaps others), used them at their own July 4th celebration and then discarded the used shells.

stole

I seriously doubt anyone stole it. I'm pretty sure it was simply put in a discard location behind the scenes and was taken to the disposal area.

If it was stolen it was definately an employee.

I just wish I would have found it! :)

I don't know the answer, but I'm willing to bet that the fireworks that are used by WDW don't have the normal fuses to set them off.

So, someone could have stole one, figured out they couldn't use it, and then dumped it in the garbage.

yeah but if someone is a pyromaniac such as myself, they could figure the fuse out or create one that fits it. You know, retrofit. All that matters is that an electric match or flame hits the gunpowder propellant.

If it has any.

And I beleive that even if it were to be discarded behind the scenes it would have never made it to this ornage county landfill.

True, but we may be reading about your "incident" in the paper! :)

Ever seen the fireworks that the hobbits play with in lord of the Rings? That's my dream right there. I can see it now. Me getting ahold of a few shells from Disney, taking them out on the beach here in town and letting em go. I won't even use a shell. Just lay them on the ground and let em go where they go! think it would make headlines?

I am not surprised. I worked for a company, that would destroy the remaining bits of fireworks but Disney said no. This was in 99.

I want one of the fireworks just so that I can display it with all of my other Disney memoribilia. I can see it now sitting on my dresser with everything else. Of course I would make it so that neither of my pyro brother could lite it off. I did have a piece of a shell after it exploded land on me in Nov from Wishes. I had it in my mom's bag and decided to leave it because I didn't want to smell like sulfur.

That would have been so cool to find. It's my dream to find out how to make fireworks, and when I do I want to build and shoot the worlds biggest firework EVER. Light up all of the southern region.

I know someone will chime in about how I'll blow my hands off but I'm serious. I can be careful. :lookaroun

There is something similar to a firework that causes a lot of destruction in the process but will be guaranteed to light up the southern region. I'm not saying to go out and try to find one or build one, but Atomic bombs can do the job. AGAIN, DO NOT DO THIS!
