Now, this is much more serious than simply a save the Carousel of Progress, or Bring back Toad or something like that. I suspect many of you have read this allready, but for those of you that haven't you MUST read this.

Of course, this could be Jim's old speculating, him being the incredible Disney-hater we all know, but still, I think action should be taken.

This is not just for the good or future of a certain ride, but this is for the good and future of all rides in the Disney Parks. Friends, we must save Walt Disney Imagineering, before it's too late. Write a note to the management, just try to show that this is a horrible idea.

Ok well, there you go, maybe this is not as important as it seems to be, what do you guys think, we should write, shouldn't we?

WDI isnt going anywhere..Eisner backs them on EVERYTHING they do, and knows it is THEY who make the parks what they are...

The ONLY way this would happen..and its a LONG shot..is if the "rumored disney buyout" goes thru..and even then I really dont see them killing WDI.....

I talked to a friend of mine's father who is an imagineer about this and he said it's nothing new. Management has been cutting jobs left and right. As for the "hiring per job basis" that has been going on for a while now hence the Aladin attraction and the one in AK. What happens is management goes to WDI and says we want an attraction and WDI goes ok well we got the really cool one with spills chills and will literally be state of the art more impressive than the TOT and management says great will give you 1/2 million for it and WDI says we'll it's actually going to coast you tripple that and management says hmm.. well I hear you got this real neat dumbo like ride. No joke this is what's been going on for awhile now at WDI, not to mention another reason for the lack of rides according to my friend's father is that WDI has been bitten by the "resort bug" as he liked calling it but hopefully with 9-11 and the realization that they are spreading themselves to thin he thinks that will stop... for now.

They are basically letting everyone go and hire new people per month...so the seniors who know how everything works will be out in the streets...and Marty Sklar will get extra money...and enjoy it...

So basically, they are hiring new people from different companies for construction and cutting their imagination to under a tenth of its current, terrible status.

..and thats nothing new...

Thats been going on for as long as I can remember (I know quite a few people over at WDI who have explained this to me)...

The ELDERS (meaning the ones who give 110% for so many years, they have nothing to worry about.

More NEW people get canned then old ones..trust me...

You guys need to chill a bit..dont buy into rumors..especially when they are so outdated as that...

Since the late 80's disney has flip-flopped from an entertainment based company to a food and lodging based company. the majority of their income comes from revenue based on F & L,therefore the majority of the money is also shifted there. With the edition of The Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studios I'd say they are being followed. Disney has shifted its interest away from the parks and to the Hotel buisness trying to stamp out the competition in the area by even going after the cheaper rates(all-stars) With this market being so saturated hence the temp closing of Dixie Landings and the hold on POP Century what is there left to do? The parks need to be juiced a little and changing or improving a ride here or there but that's it. The major projects are either finished or on financial hold.
Unfortunately.
they can't run WD without Imagineers, But without projects they can't afford to keep them all around either.

And seriously..do you thikn WDI would get shut down..I mean..the LAST thing they would do is put pressler out of a job (why? because thats something we may WANT to see happen)

This is just another case of "Disney rumor over reaction". There are always rumors like this floating around and it is perfect fodder for someone to write an anti-Disney article. And we all have to remember that Disney is a business. Sure we all have sore spots for lost attractions, cut backs, etc. But these things happen in a business. Disney and its leaders are not going to be 100% right every time. They make mistakes.

I agree with Now Inc, Jim Hill tend to do alot of Gun Jumping, and exagerating. Don't believe everythign you read at first glance...Imagineering has always fluctuated it's workforce. It's a fact. It's economically sound, and being frugal isn't neccesarily evil, just smart..However, if what Jim is saying (which I doubt) is true, then that would be quite the stupid move..Letters wouldn't hurt..Neither woul 2 or 3..or 5,000..
