Falls not fails. I've never had to maneuver in a costume but I'm sure it's very difficult to maintain your balance especially when there is limited visibility. Then having to walk over curbing, uneven footing, around tables and chairs etc. Considering the numerous characters and hours they are performing, a few slip ups have to be expected. Professionals maintain their composure and go on with the show.

I always wanted to know the context behind the video of pluto chasing the kid. Anyone know?

I'm guessing the Pluto chasing video was at Disneyland, because chasing and other crazy things happen all the time here. There's really no context. Just the characters having fun, they don't have character handlers at DL. I was at the park one time and all of a sudden, the Mad Hatter came running out of Fantasyland. Right behind him was the Queen of Heart, chasing him.:ROFLOL: She chased him all around the hub and back. There's also a video on youtube of Mad Hatter and Alice scaring the guests coming out the exit of Snow White!

Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5qHBzFmghA

That's the beauty of the characters being able to roam freely around the park without character handlers. I always see Peter Pan climbing things in random places and acting childish. Mary Poppins and Burt also do their own thing with the guests and Alice and Mad Hatter host musical chairs on Main Street too (which was in the video).

Oh ok. I felt like the video was meant to make you think "Pluto is terrorizing the kid!" But really the kid was maybe like, "bet you can't catch me!" or something.

How come we have to have handlers here in wdw?! :(
There have been more circumstances of characters being assaulted, groped, etc at WDW. You get a completely different type of clientele at WDW. Parents keep less of a watchful eye on their children, rude adults try to push their boundaries with the CM's in costume, and so on. You see more of the "I paid good $$$ to be here, so I'm gonna do what I want, when I want" type of tourist at the Fla parks. Not saying DL has the squeaky clean crowds 100% of the time by any means. But at WDW, more precautions need to be taken to ensure the CM's safety.

yea the pluto thing doesn't look like they are "joking around". If you watch the entire video, it looks like pluto freaks the hell out. He's running full sprint chasing alittle kid around and it doesn't stop until the adult comes in and blocks pluto's path. That was no joke.

It also looks like Pluto was saying something to the adult at the end...and he wasn't very happy whatever he was saying.

*Edit*
After a search on this, I found a thread on the incident. This may be of help:
A few years ago when this video was originally posted, several people started posting on a message board who were witnesses to this event.

It happened at Disneyland. Pluto was taking a picture with a group of people. The young boy was told by an adult in his group to pull Pluto's tail to see if he barks. The boy does as he is told. Pluto nearly looses his balance. He turns and shakes his finger at the boy. The boy not liking what Pluto just did then proceeded to kick him. This is what the video failed to capture. What we see on the video is right after the boy kicked him. I always thought that characters had cast members with them to prevent things like this from happening. The character apparently thought he was going to be terminated, so he resigned that day.

Some of those character "falls" were obviously intentional; the characters just playing around with the kids. Others were clearly accidental.

LOL a lot of fails. The beauty and the beast show one is my all time favorite disney fail, second favorite Mike Wazowski. In the longer version of the video he just lays there still after he falls :ROFLOL:. Too funny.
