Disney expanding? Yellowstone & Hawaiian tours?

I saw one of those little news stories that run on the bottom of the screen during other news stories, on 2 different news stations yesterday. There was no real information given, except that Disney was considering a new venture into the vacation tours business, possibly providing tours to the Hawaiian volcanos and Yellowstone park for example.

Anyone else see this or have any info, rumors etc?

Thanks for the link. I hadn't heard anything else about it, other than the blip on the bottom of the news. Yikes--it is a bit pricey! :hammer:

Eh, not too sure this will be successful. "Disney" has become a brand name, and there are certain things associated with it, like characters and artificial environments (theme parks, resorts, etc.). Bringing the Disney name into the real world might not work as well as they hope.

Don't get me wrong, I think a "story-based" approach to this is a great idea, and I think, if anyone, Disney can pull it off. But I don't think the Disney name should be directly associated with it. Put it under a different name a la Touchstone or another of the other Company subsidiaries. And also, keep in mind those are discounted rates. I'd hate to see them at full price.

 At those prices "Al NO ha" (sorry l know its from the tv commerical) and you know when you get to Hawaii you'll be greeted by lilo and friends and of course Stitch, thats their home, least in the movies and series. Oh well when the times right i'll get to Hawaii someday. :)

They're also considering purchasing some casinos in Las Vegas. No, really, they are; that's why Disney recently polled guests in Florida about whether or not Disney should own a casino. Everyone assumed it was for Pleasure Island, but Disney was really interested in Las Vegas.

At least it would give them a place to put the Epcot arm and wand!

I'm not sure whether or not Disney should give "real life" tours. Walt himself considered opening a ski resort, and cruises to Hawaii make sense, but I don't think Disney should touch Yellowstone. Besides, wouldn't they have to clear something with the government?
