Disney exec to take helm of Florida Chamber
(South Florida Business Journal) -- For the second year in a row, an Orlando executive will lead the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
Matthew A. Ouimet, executive vice president of new business initiatives at Walt Disney Parks & Resorts and president of Disney Cruise Line, has been named chairman of the chamber's board of directors for 2003.
Ouimet replaces Rick Walsh, the senior vice president of corporate relations for Orlando-based Darden Restaurants (NYSE: DRI).
The 13-year veteran of The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) has held a series of executive positions at the company including senior vice president and chief financial officer at Walt Disney Imagineering and senior vice president of dinance and business development at the Walt Disney World Resort.
In addition to the Florida Chamber, Ouimet serves on the board of directors for the International Council of Cruise Lines, the Floridian Caribbean Cruise Association and is a member of The Florida Council of 100.
